Graziani throws late TD pass to earn Soul spot in playoffs
PHILADELPHIA -- Tony Graziani threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Charles Pauley with 7 seconds to play to help the Philadelphia Soul clinch a playoff spot with a 56-53 victory over the Columbus Destroyers on Saturday night.
Graziani, 24-of-36 for 280 yards and seven touchdowns, followed the go-ahead touchdown pass with a 2-point conversion strike to Larry Brackins. Brackins led the Soul (7-8) in receiving with eight catches for 113 yards and four touchdowns.
Columbus had a chance to tie it, but Peter Martinez's 59-yard field goal attempt fell short as time expired. Matt Nagy threw seven touchdown passes for the Destroyers (6-9), who needed a victory to clinch a playoff spot.
