Sonny Cumbie threw for 306 yards and seven touchdowns to give the Los Angeles Avengers a 64-42 playoff win Monday over the Utah Blaze.

The Avengers used five turnovers and a 23-0 second quarter to end the Blaze's season and give Los Angeles its first playoff victory in franchise history. The Blaze are 0-2 in postseason play.

"It is tough to overcome turnovers especially in the postseason" Blaze coach Danny White said, according to the Arena Football League Web site. "Give credit to Los Angeles. They played very well."

Joe Germaine threw for 323 yards and five touchdowns but had three interceptions, and Offensive Player of the Year candidate Siaha Burley was held to five receptions for 71 yards and no touchdowns for Utah.

Fullback Josh Jefferies was named Ironman of the Game after scoring two rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns on 74 combined yards for Los Angeles, which will play Chicago on July 9.
