Gladiators kick off Cleveland era with win over Dragons

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Gladiators' move to Cleveland from Las Vegas got off to a happy start Monday night with a 61-49 victory over the New York Dragons.

The Gladiators outscored New York 28-14 in the game's final 16 minutes. They also had four sacks, two each by Karon Riley and Joe Minucci.

Leading the offense for the Gladiators was QB Raymond Philyaw. He was 18-of-23 for 240 yards, five touchdowns and one interception.

Philyaw's favorite receiver was Otis Amey, who finished with 101 yards and two touchdowns. Amey also scored a rushing touchdown.

Dragons quarterback Aaron Garcia left with a sprained knee following an interception early in the second quarter. Garcia finished 7-of-16 for 64 yards, and replacement Rohan Davey stepped in to go 21-of-30 for 249 yards, with five touchdowns and one interception.

Leading all Dragons receivers was Kevin Swayne, who finished with 130 yards and three touchdowns.
