LOS ANGELES -- Mark Grieb threw for 298 yards and seven touchdowns, three to Rodney Wright, as the San Jose SaberCats defeated the Los Angeles Avengers 66-56 in a Western Division battle Saturday night at Staples Center.

The victory gave the SaberCats a 6-0 record against conference opponents this season. James Roe had 10 catches for 117 yards and two touchdowns and Cleannord Saintil six catches for 107 yards and one score. Brian Johnson had two rushing touchdowns.

Avengers quarterback Sonny Cumbie had 262 yards and five touchdowns with one interception. LaShaun Ward led all receivers with eight catches for 134 yards and three touchdowns.
