1. Fedor Emelianenko makes his Strikeforce debut on the first live MMA card on CBS since October 2008. Regarded as the top MMA heavyweight fighter in the world, Emelianenko takes on Brett Rogers, who is unbeaten in 10 professional fights.

2. Emelianenko, who is nicknamed "The Last Emperor," has not lost a fight since December 2000, a loss mired in controversy. Emelianenko suffered a cut from an inadvertent elbow after his opponent, Tsuyoshi Kohsaka, missed while throwing a punch. As a result of the severity of the cut, the ringside doctor stopped the fight, and Kohsaka was ruled the winner. Fedor avenged his lone loss in April 2005, ironically winning via doctor stoppage due to a (non-accidental) cut over Kohsaka's eye.

3. Rogers enters as a heavy underdog, but can boast defeating a common opponent that he and Emelianenko share, in a much faster time. Rogers needed just 22 seconds to knock out Andrei Arlovski; Fedor knocked out Arlovski in 3 minutes, 14 seconds.

4. While Emelianenko is easily the best fighter in the world that doesn't fight for the UFC, the card also has two fighters who could be argued as the best non-UFC fighters in their respective weight divisions. Jake Shields gets a shot at the vacant Strikeforce middleweight title (vacated by Cung Le), riding the momentum of a 12-fight win streak that includes stoppages in his past eight bouts. Gegard Mousasi, the Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, has won his past 13 fights and takes on Sokoudjou in a non-title fight.

5. This is the fourth MMA event that CBS will air in primetime. The network's previous three events were held by EliteXC, which folded in October 2008.
