Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem will face Fabricio Werdum on June 18 in a nontitle fight, the promotion announced on Tuesday.

The Strikeforce Grand Prix heavyweight tournament quarterfinal showdown will be held at American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Overeem will enter the cage with a professional record of 34-11-0 and one no contest. Werdum, who owns a win over Overeem, sports a mark of 14-4-1.

Former UFC champion Josh Barnett (29-5-0) takes on hard-hitting Brett Rogers (11-2-0) in the co-feature. This fight is also a Strikeforce heavyweight tournament quarterfinal.

"We are really excited to head to Dallas with two outstanding quarterfinal heavyweight Grand Prix fights," Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said.

Fan favorite Gina Carano (7-1-0) puts an end to her cage hiatus on the card. Carano (7-1-0) has not fought since August 15, 2009, when she lost a 145-pound title bout to Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos.

An opponent has yet to be named for Carano.

"With Overeem vs. Werdum, Rogers vs. Barnett, as well as the return of Gina Carano, Strikeforce is bringing one of its best cards ever to American Airlines Center," Coker said.

The event also includes a bout between highly touted heavyweights Daniel Cormier (7-0-0) and Shane Del Rosario (11-0-0).

Valentijn Overeem (29-25-0), the elder brother of Alistair, takes on Chad Griggs (10-1-0) in a heavyweight fight.
