Anthony Njokuani, to fight in UFC 132
A lightweight bout between Anthony Njokuani and Andre Winner has been added to the UFC 132 card in July.
Officials announced Thursday that both fighters have verbally agreed to the matchup. The event is set to take place July 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Njokuani (13-5) could be on thin ice with the promotion after losing his UFC debut by unanimous decision to Edson Barboza last month. In 2009, he strung together a three-fight win streak in the WEC but has gone 1-3 in his last four fights.
During his time in the WEC, the Las Vegas-based fighter scored notable knockout wins over Bart Palaszewski and Chris Horodecki.
Winner (11-5-1) is also in big need of a win, having lost back-to-back fights for the first time in his professional career. He got outpointed by Nik Lentz at UFC 118 last August and was submitted by Dennis Siver in the first round at UFC 122 in October.
A former conestant on "The Ultimate Fighter" reality series, Winner is 2-3 since joining the UFC in 2009.
