Takeya Mizugaki, Brian Bowles to fight

Former WEC bantamweight champion Brian Bowles and Takeya Mizugaki, both coming off wins in their respective UFC debuts, have agreed to meet this summer.

The bout is set to take place July 2 at UFC 132 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. UFC officials made the announcement Monday evening.

Bowles (9-1) is coming off a first-round submission win over Damacio Page at UFC on Versus 3 in March. It was his first fight in nearly a year due to injury, and first since losing the WEC 135-pound title to Dominick Cruz.

He claimed the belt in August 2009 with a first-round knockout of then three-time defending champion Miguel Torres.

Mizugaki (14-5-2) also made his UFC debut in March, scoring a split decision win over Reuben Duran. He is 3-3 in his last six fights, but the losses have come to highly ranked bantamweights Torres, Scott Jorgensen and Urijah Faber.

The Japanese fighter fought for the WEC title in his first appearance for the organization, losing a unanimous decision to Torres in April 2009.

A bantamweight title fight between champion Cruz and top contender Faber is scheduled to headline UFC 132.
