Cheick Kongo, Pat Barry to battle

PITTSBURGH -- Despite the loss of Nate Marquardt, who failed a prefight medical examination, 'UFC on Versus 4' will go on as planned Sunday night at Consol Energy Center.

All the remaining fighters scheduled to appear on the card made weight on Saturday at Heinz Field.

Marquardt, a perennial contender at middleweight, was expected to make his UFC welterweight debut against Rick Story in the main event.

With Marquardt off the card, heavyweights Cheick Kongo and Pat Barry will settle their differences in the feature bout.

Kongo weighed in at 234.4 pounds, while Barry tipped the scale at 243. The two had to be separated by UFC president Dana White during the stare-down.

Kongo is upset over comments Barry allegedly made about the Frenchman's style of fighting. Barry has said his comments were taken out of context by a reporter.

Story (170.4 pounds) now faces local favorite Charlie Brenneman (170.6) in the co-main event. Brenneman, a resident of Hollidaysburg, Penn., was scheduled to face T.J. Grant in a preliminary bout. Grant will no longer compete on the card.

Welterweights Matt Brown (170) and John Howard (170.2) look to end losing skids. Brown has dropped three fights in a row, while Howard has come up short in each of his past two.

A heavyweight clash between Christian Morecraft (261.4) and Matt Mitrione (261.1) rounds out the main card.
