Rules - Waivers and Free Agency
ADDING A FREE AGENT
In standard leagues there are many unclaimed players available in the player pool; these players are called free agents. During the season you will undoubtedly want to replace one of your existing players for a free agent to improve your team. You can access the player pool by either using the "Find a Player" search box on every game page, or by clicking on the main "Players" tab. On the "Players" page use the available filters and sortable stats to find the player who fits your team needs the most. Then click the "Add" button to add him to your team. If you have an empty roster slot on your team, the player will immediately be added. If you do not have an empty slot, you will be brought to the "Adjust Roster" page that will allow you to drop a player on your current roster. Note that you can only add one player at a time and all players added to your team via free agency are placed in a bench slot.
To drop a player on your team, click on the "Drop Players" link on your My Team page. On this page you are presented with the option to drop each player on your team. Clicking on the "Drop" button will highlight the button red and activate the "Submit" button. You can drop multiple players at once if you want (as long as they're not on the Undroppable Players list). Upon selecting which players you want to drop and clicking submit you will be brought to a screen which asks you to confirm your drop player transaction.
ADDING PLAYER TO WATCH LIST
New to Fantasy Basketball 2010, Watch Lists allow you to closely monitor players not on your team. You can add any player to your Watch List by clicking on the "W" button found on the "Players" page, or on another team's page. Doing this action adds that player to your team's Watch List, and allows you to view them in the same format as your own team. Adding a player to your Watch List does not notify anyone else in the league, and you can add up to 30 players.
Waivers is the time period by which a player must wait before becoming free agents. Players go into waivers when your draft is complete and immediately after a player is dropped from a team. The standard game system enforces a 2-day waiver period during which time all team owners are allowed to put a waiver claim in to add him to their team. Players on waivers are listed with the day of the week the player is scheduled to clear waivers (ie, "WA (Thu)"). To put a waiver claim in on a player, click the "Add" button. At this time you will be brought through the appropriate adjust roster and confirm transaction pages to submit the claim.
On the date waivers are scheduled to clear, the system looks to see if any teams have a waiver claim on that player. If none do, then the player becomes a free agent who can be added on a first-come, first-served basis. If only one team has a claim on the player, then he is added to that team and the team's proirity in the waiver order is moved to the last slot (#10). If more than one team have a claim on a player, then the system looks to see which team has the highest waiver order priority (closest to "1"), that team will win the waiver bid and the team's priority moved to the last slot. All players added to your team via waivers are placed in a bench slot. Each team's waiver priority is displayed on the My Team page.
The waiver process begins daily at 4 a.m. ET.
Note: To help prevent the issue of cycling players through free agency, a player that is added and released on the same day will remain a free agent.
