Neither the Bucks nor the Sixers push the tempo (21st and 22nd, respectively, in possessions per game), and while the 76ers may not be a great team, they do give solid effort defensively. The Bucks are a defensive sieve, and have a lot of trouble with point guards; Andre Miller is a better-than-normal bet for 20-plus points as a result. There's risk attached, but if Brendan Haywood can stay out of foul trouble against Yao Ming and stay on the court, the performance should be there. Center and point guard are the two positions the Rockets are the weakest at defensively, which bodes well for Antonio Daniels, too. Ricky Davis has been on fire recently, averaging 20.6 points, 4.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds with a plethora of steals and 3-pointers to boot. Give the man 40-plus minutes and a starting job, and watch out. Normally, if you have a player facing the Magic, who are seventh in defensive efficiency, it may cause some skepticism, but while the trio of Francisco Garcia, Beno Udrih and John Salmons is inconsistent at times, the heavy minutes they are virtually guaranteed means it's almost impossible not to view them as good starts.
With Chris Wilcox out for Tuesday's contest, Nick Collison becomes a great option against the Cavaliers. Collison is averaging a ridiculous 14 rebounds in his past three games, all contests in which Wilcox was essentially out. Point guard is by far the Cavs' weakest position -- Daniel Gibson is one of the team's weakest defenders -- so expect Earl Watson to rebound from his poor game on Sunday. Luke Walton, on a good day, is a decent multifaceted contributor who excels in roto leagues, and after receiving 30-plus minutes versus the Pacers on Sunday, he is still a factor in the rotation. The Grizzlies like to run (eighth in possessions per game) but can't stop other teams from scoring on them (27th in defensive efficiency), so don't be surprised by a strong line from Walton. It's shooting fish in a barrel, but Mike Conley is averaging 9.3 points, 6.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals in his past three games, and suddenly is entrenched as the Grizzlies' starting point guard for the long term. With both Quentin Richardson and Renaldo Balkman day-to-day with injuries, Nate Robinson is a great short-term option for points and 3s. He scored 25 points and netted five 3-pointers in 32 minutes Saturday against the Rockets, a game in which Richardson left early due to injury. Andres Nocioni had 26 points and five 3-pointers versus the Kings in his most recent game in which Luol Deng missed, and with Deng again questionable for Tuesday, Nocioni has short-term value again.
