Start 'em, sit 'em

Those of you who have spent the majority of the season riding the production of Jose Calderon likely are living in a state of anger and frustration these days. No longer starting in Toronto, Calderon is putting up his usual efficient numbers, but in far fewer minutes. He's had three straight games in which he failed to score 10 points, and in only one of those games did he manage to reach 10 assists. Still, Calderon remains a good start against the Bucks on Wednesday. Mo Williams will play hurt or won't play at all, which should mean the Milwaukee backcourt will be even more terrible defensively than usual. Start both Calderon and T.J. Ford, as there should be plenty of production to go around. … When the Sonics faced the Rockets on Friday, the results were disastrous for fantasy owners; the Rockets won, 79-66, and both teams were below 40 percent from the floor. Even so, Sonics big men Nick Collison and Johan Petro each chipped in a double-double. Petro's too inconsistent to gamble on, but Collison has had double-doubles in six of his past eight games (and had nine points and 21 rebounds in another). He's owned in most leagues, but he's worth playing in all. Start him if you've got him and pick him up if you don't and he's still available. … On the flip side, this is one game in which you may want to sit Kevin Durant. His 2-for-17 performance against the Rockets on Friday doesn't leave me with the feeling that he'll be able to turn it around against them this time. He gave a performance for the ages in the double-overtime win against Denver on Sunday night, but he's had a few terrible games against the Rockets this season, and there's no reason to think his luck will change now. … Devin Harris looks like a great start for the Nets against the Cavaliers, as the Cavs' backcourt, even with Daniel Gibson once again healthy, has struggled mightily with point guards all season. Harris is way too quick for Delonte West and should have no trouble with Gibson either. He's also the sort of point guard who can pressure the ball and force West and Gibson into turnovers and mistakes. I'd expect a great all-around game out of Harris, including a few steals for good measure.

Waiver-wire pickups

The Pistons' Rodney Stuckey has been extremely impressive of late, averaging 13.8 points, 4.2 assists and 1.4 steals in his past five games while Richard Hamilton has been nursing a sore hip. The Pistons don't have much to play for these days, so you can probably expect the rookie to continue getting plenty of run. The Sixers' defense presents an interesting challenge, but Stuckey has the size to deal with Andre Miller and should be able to have a productive night given the 27 or so minutes he's been playing during the past couple of weeks. … If you need scoring and rebounding, there's no better place to look during the next few games than Celtics forward Leon Powe. The C's are making a concerted effort to rest Kevin Garnett, which means plenty of minutes for Powe, who played 29 minutes against the Bobcats on Saturday and put up 22 points and nine boards. Believe it or not, Powe is among the top seven power forwards in the league in player efficiency rating, and if he wasn't playing behind Garnett, it stands to reason he'd be putting up some monster numbers. Wednesday night against the Wizards, he likely will. … Last time the Bobcats met the Knicks, the Bobcats' guards showed no ability to contain the Knicks' backcourt of Jamal Crawford and Nate Robinson, and with Gerald Wallace injured, there's no reason to think they'll fare better this time around. Robinson, in particular, is available in most fantasy leagues, and should be a great source of points when the two teams meet again on Wednesday. …
