Start 'em, sit 'em

The SuperSonics' Nick Collison has been playing extremely well lately and should be able to contribute against the Warriors on Wednesday. He's averaging 12.8 points and 11.8 rebounds in his past five games. That rebounding number could be particularly valuable if you are desperate in the final game of the season. In his only meeting against the Warriors this year, Collison put up 20 points and 13 rebounds in 42 minutes. Duplicating that would be a stretch, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. … The Magic's Jameer Nelson has been particularly productive against the Wizards this season, and with DeShawn Stevenson and Gilbert Arenas both possibly out resting up for the playoffs, I see no reason why Nelson's good play shouldn't continue. So far this season, Nelson is averaging 12.7 points, 7.0 assists and 1.7 steals against the Wizards. … David Lee put up 12 points and 16 boards on Monday night against the Celtics, which is no small feat even considering Kevin Garnett was on the bench. We know Lee can rebound because he's been doing it consistently for two seasons now. Consider the fact that both Jeff Foster and Jermaine O'Neal are less than healthy for the Pacers and you will agree with me that Lee could be in for a huge night against Indiana on Wednesday. … For the Timberwolves, you'll want to make sure you start Randy Foye. Ramon Sessions has played admirably for the Bucks in filling in for Mo Williams, but he's no better on defense and the Bucks gave up 151 points to the lowly Bulls on Monday night. Foye is averaging 19.4 points and 5.2 assists in his past five games, and I'd expect him to sprint past those numbers on Wednesday night.

Waiver-wire pickups

The Sixers' Thaddeus Young has put together a couple of good games in a row, and if you are looking from some steals from the forward position, he could be your best bet off the waiver wire for the final day of the regular season. When he has played significant minutes of late, he has been a big producer, and in back-to-back games against Indiana and Washington he has put up 21 and 15 points, respectively. He's averaging 1.2 steals in his past five games, and should be able to put up some decent numbers against the Bobcats on Wednesday. … Heat guard Daequan Cook has put up 11, 13 and 22 points in his past three games. More importantly, he's made 10 3-pointers during that stretch and has no one in front of him on the depth chart right now to take away his minutes. The Hawks are a playoff team this year but not a very a good one, and defense is not their specialty. Go ahead and start Cook, as he should be good for another few 3s and at least double-figures in points. … I did not steer you wrong when I told you to pick up Sessions for his game against the Bulls on Monday night. In the losing effort, Sessions had 20 points, a team-leading eight boards, and an out-of-this-world 24 assists. Pick him up as soon as you can if he's still available in your league, because it's looking like he's a sure thing for double-digit assists against the Wolves and is absolutely worth starting in the Bucks' season finale.
