Key: Opp. PPG = Points per game allowed to opponents. Opp. FGP = Field goal percentage allowed to opponents. RPG Diff. = The difference between a team's rebounds per game and its opponents' rebounds per game.
Wilson Chandler is averaging 20 points and three 3-pointers in his past six games, and considering the Heat allow opponents to shoot a robust 38 percent from beyond the arc, make sure he's in your lineup Saturday. Playing through an ankle injury, Chris Duhon is having his worst month of the season, averaging 9.4 points on 37.4 percent shooting. Despite that poor opponents' 3-point percentage, the Heat actually are in the top 10 in defensive efficiency, not the ideal slump-busting opponent. Carl Landry hopes to play Saturday but struggled performing on-court drills before Thursday's game, so he might get held out again. If he can't go, Luis Scola will become a much better option, as he's taken advantage of extra playing time to average 14.0 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in the four games Landry has missed. Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas are averaging only 26 minutes per game since the Bulls acquired Brad Miller and Tim Thomas. Tyrus Thomas still has been fairly productive, averaging 13.3 points, 1.6 blocks and 1.3 steals, but the frontcourt time-share is something to be concerned about in the long term, threatening the values of all players involved. The Rockets are holding opponents to just 83.6 points per game in the six games since Tracy McGrady shut it down, proving they can still defend, so benching your Bulls and seeing how it plays out seems wise.
Since taking over the starting point guard position for the Rockets four games ago, Aaron Brooks has totaled 19, 7, 20 and 3 points while averaging 31 minutes per game. That's a textbook example of inconsistency, and it probably is best to bench him and play it safe against the Bulls, who are 10th in opponents' field goal percentage and fourth in opponents' 3-point percentage. Kirk Hinrich also is one of the best defensive point guards in the league, holding the opposition to a miniscule 9.3 player efficiency rating. Bobby Jackson is expected to start at point guard in place of Beno Udrih, and if you can stomach the poor field goal percentage, he should be a decent source of assists, steals and 3-pointers.
