Top players we're watching

Ruled out before Sunday: RB Jahvid Best (concussion), QB Sam Bradford (ankle), QB Jason Campbell (collarbone), TE Chris Cooley (finger), WR Lee Evans (ankle), LB James Harrison (eye), WR Andre Johnson (hamstring), K Sebastian Janikowski (left hamstring), RB Felix Jones (ankle), QB Peyton Manning (neck), TE Zach Miller (SEA) (head), WR Sammie Stroughter (ankle).

Early games (1 p.m. ET)

RB LeGarrette Blount (knee, doubtful): inactive
TE Antonio Gates (foot, questionable): active
RB Peyton Hillis (hamstring, questionable): inactive
WR Julio Jones (hamstring, doubtful): inactive

Night game (8:20 p.m. ET)

RB Joseph Addai (hamstring, questionable): active

Updates/analysis (most recent first)

Jimmy Graham active (19:30 p.m. ET): The New Orleans Saints' official Twitter feed reports that TE Jimmy Graham (ankle, probable) is active. He's the No. 1 tight end in fantays so far, so no injury-report listing should prevent you from activating him with confidence.

Peyton Manning inactive (19:29 p.m. ET): Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star reports that QB Peyton Manning (neck, out) is inactive.

Anthony Gonzalez inactive (19:29 p.m. ET): Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star reports that WR Anthony Gonzalez (groin, questionable) is inactive.

Joseph Addai active (19:29 p.m. ET): Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star reports that RB Joseph Addai (hamstring, questionable) is active. Wilson also reports that Addai is likely to start, meaning the running back looks safe to use as a No. 2/flex if you've waited this long in the day to use him.

Kerry Collins inactive (19:29 p.m. ET): Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star reports that QB Kerry Collins (concussion, questionable) is inactive.

David Buehler inactive (3:03 p.m. ET): The Rams' official Twitter feed reports that K David Buehler (right groin, questionable) is inactive for the opposing Cowboys. Dan Bailey gets another week as the Cowboys' placekicker.

Felix Jones inactive (3:00 p.m. ET): The Rams' official Twitter feed reports that RB Felix Jones (ankle, out) is inactive for the opposing Cowboys. That's not surprising; that they also report that Tashard Choice, not DeMarco Murray, will earn the start, is. Expect some sort of rotation between the two with Murray the higher-upside play in fantasy.

Brandon Gibson inactive (2:52 p.m. ET): The Rams' official Twitter feed reports that WR Brandon Gibson is inactive. It's a healthy scratch, and it means that Danario Alexander and Brandon Lloyd should be the Week 7 starters, with Greg Salas the slot receiver.

Bernard Berrian inactive (2:52 p.m. ET): The Vikings' official Twitter feed reports that WR Bernard Berrian is inactive. This appears to be another healthy-scratch decision, just as the one two weeks ago when he missed a team meeting. Berrian's stock continues to fall, and he's a total non-factor in fantasy.

Sam Bradford inactive (2:50 p.m. ET): The St. Louis Rams' official Twitter feed reports that QB Sam Bradford (ankle, out) is inactive. A.J. Feeley was previously announced as the Rams' starting quarterback, but he's not a recommended fantasy option in a road game against the Cowboys.

Carson Palmer active (2:48 p.m. ET): Paul Gutierrez of Comcase SportsNet California reports that QB Carson Palmer is active for the Raiders. It's unclear whether Palmer will start, but this is certainly a sign that he might. The Raiders have three quarterbacks active this week, perhaps a sign they'll use Palmer but want a contingency plan.

Jason Campbell inactive (2:45 p.m. ET): Paul Gutierrez of Comcast SportsNet California reports that QB Jason Campbell (collarbone, out) is inactive. His season is done but he has yet to be placed on IR.

Sebastian Janikowski inactive (2:45 p.m. ET): Paul Gutierrez of Comcast SportsNet California reports that K Sebastian Janikowski (left hamstring, out) is inactive. Dave Rayner will serve as the Raiders' placekicker this week.

Percy Harvin active (2:42 p.m. ET): The Minnesota Vikings' official Twitter feed reports that WR Percy Harvin (ribs, probable) is active. The switch to Christian Ponder will probably have an adverse effect on Harvin's fantasy production, so regard him only as a No. 3 wideout this week.

Rashard Mendenhall active (2:40 p.m. ET): Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that RB Rashard Mendenhall (knee, probable) is active. He was only on the injury report at all due to an ailment suffered during the practice week; there was never any real concern he would sit. Keep him in all lineups.

Mike Wallace active (2:40 p.m. ET): Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that WR Mike Wallace (hamstring, probable) is active. He's one of the most productive wide receivers in all of fantasy and should be a mainstay in your lineup.

Jackie Battle active (2:38 p.m. ET): Josh Looney of the Kansas City Chiefs reports that RB Jackie Battle (neck, probable) is active. He was expected to play and start; his matchup is also favorable enough against the Raiders that he's worth using as a No. 2 running back.

Todd Heap inactive (2:37 p.m. ET): The Arizona Cardinals' official Twitter feed reports that TE Todd Heap (hamstring, questionable) is inactive. Jeff King is expected to start in his place, but he's not a recommended fantasy fill-in, considering how little the Cardinals utilize the tight end.

Marshawn Lynch a late scratch (1:10 p.m. ET): The Seahawks' official Twitter feed reports that Marshawn Lynch injured his back during warmups and will not play. It's frustrating, late-breaking news beyond most leagues' lineup deadlines. Leon Washington will start in his place.

Reggie Bush active (12:05 p.m. ET): Mike Berardino of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that RB Reggie Bush (groin, probable) is active. Daniel Thomas is active, too, so Bush will likely play primarily on passing downs. He's a flex option at best.

Brandon Marshall active (12:05 p.m. ET): Mike Berardino of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that WR Brandon Marshall (quadriceps, probable) is active. He's a No. 2 fantasy wide receiver, his upside merely capped due to the potential matchup with Champ Bailey.

Daniel Thomas active (12:05 p.m. ET): Mike Berardino of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that RB Daniel Thomas (hamstring, probable) is active. He has an outstanding matchup against the poor Broncos run defense, and warrants a start as a No. 2 fantasy running back.

Earl Bennett inactive (12:04 p.m. ET): The Chicago Bears' official Twitter feed reports that WR Earl Bennett (chest, probable) is inactive. This seems like a healthy-scratch move; Bennett shouldn't be on fantasy rosters.

Devin Hester active (12:04 p.m. ET): The Chicago Bears' official Twitter feed reports that WR Devin Hester (chest, probable) is active. He might be playing at less than 100 percent, so it remains to be seen how heavily used he'll be in the return game. Consider him a No. 3/4 fantasy wide receiver at best.

Kellen Winslow active (12:01 p.m. ET): The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' official Twitter feed reports that TE Kellen Winslow (not injury related) is active. He's a top-10 fantasy tight end facing the Bears.

Sammie Stroughter inactive (12:01 p.m. ET): The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' official Twitter feed reports that WR Sammie Stroughter (ankle, out) is inactive. Preston Parker gets yet another game as the slot receiver, for those owners digging especially deep.

LeGarrette Blount inactive (12:01 p.m. ET): The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' official Twitter feed reports that RB LeGarrette Blount (knee, doubtful) is inactive. Earnest Graham, who did an admirable job as the Week 6 fill-in, will start again and is worth having active as a No. 2 fantasy running back.

Zach Miller inactive (11:59 a.m. ET): The Seattle Seahawks' official Twitter feed reports that TE Zach Miller (head, out) is inactive. No significant loss in fantasy; Miller has been a major disappointment.

Tarvaris Jackson inactive (11:59 a.m. ET): The Seattle Seahawks' official Twitter feed reports that QB Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral, doubtful) is inactive. This was expected; Charlie Whitehurst had previously been named the Seahawks' starter for Week 7. He's not a recommended fantasy option, however.

Marshawn Lynch active (11:59 a.m. ET): The Seattle Seahawks' official Twitter feed reports that RB Marshawn Lynch (ankle, probable) is active. The Browns' run defense is off to a terrible start, bumping Lynch's fantasy appeal to No. 2 running back levels. Get him in your lineup.

LaDainian Tomlinson active (11:58 a.m. ET): The New York Jets' official Twitter feed reports that RB LaDainian Tomlinson (not injury related, probable) is active. He is expected to get the ceremonial "start," which shows how silly the "start" designation can sometimes be. Tomlinson might play the first series yet finish with single-digit touches, so don't expect much from him in fantasy.

Willis McGahee active (11:53 a.m. ET): The Denver Broncos' official Twitter feed reports that RB Willis McGahee (back, probable) is active. As the Broncos' go-to running back, McGahee remains a No. 2 fantasy option at his position.

Eddie Royal active (11:53 a.m. ET): The Denver Broncos' official Twitter feed reports that WR Eddie Royal (groin, probable) is active. The receiving targets are completely up for grabs in Denver following the Brandon Lloyd trade, and Royal could indeed step up facing a soft secondary. Still, it's a bit of a hail-mary play, and I'd classify him as no more than a No. 4/5, desperation option.

Demaryius Thomas active (11:53 a.m. ET): The Denver Broncos' official Twitter feed reports that WR Demaryius Thomas (finger, probable) is active. He seemed a bit behind Eddie Royal in his recovery from injury, so he's unlikely to be the Broncos' breakout wideout this week. Still, his performance bears watching.

Chris Cooley inactive (11:49 a.m. ET): The Washington Redskins' official Twitter feed reports that TE Chris Cooley (finger, out) is inactive. Fred Davis benefits during Cooley's absence; expect enough targets for him to crack the top-10 fantasy tight ends with ease this week.

Anthony Armstrong active (11:49 a.m. ET): The Washington Redskins' official Twitter feed reports that WR Anthony Armstrong (hamstring, probable) is active. He bounces back and forth between active and inactive, and is little involved right now. Look elsewhere.

Tim Hightower active (11:49 a.m. ET): The Washington Redskins' official Twitter feed reports that RB Tim Hightower (shoulder, probable) is active. He didn't play in Week 6 and Ryan Torain deserves a second chance from his fantasy owners, being that the Eagles went out of their way to shut him down. You simply never know with Mike Shanahan, but Torain should probably lead the team in carries and is the Redskins back to trust as a No. 2 option.

Greg Olsen active (11:48 a.m. ET): The Carolina Panthers' official Twitter feed reports that TE Greg Olsen (toe, probable) is active. He remains a top-10 fantasy tight end, what with the Panthers willing to throw so frequently this season.

Jeremy Shockey active (11:48 a.m. ET): The Carolina Panthers' official Twitter feed reports that TE Jeremy Shockey (not injury related, probable) is active. He's No. 2 to Greg Olsen on the Panthers' depth chart, and therefore a weak fantasy choice.

Tony Scheffler active (11:43 a.m. ET): The Detroit Lions' official Twitter feed reports that TE Tony Scheffler (concussion, probable) is active. He'll likely be a non-factor this week, however, with Brandon Pettigrew stepping up as the Lions' go-to tight end in his absence. Feel free to cut Scheffler if you haven't already.

Jahvid Best inactive (11:43 a.m. ET): The Detroit Lions' official Twitter feed reports that RB Jahvid Best (concussion, out) is inactive. No surprises here; the Lions will go with some combination of Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams. Pressed to pick, Morris is the stronger option in fantasy, being that he shaped up the clear No. 2 back to Best in Week 6. Still, he's merely a flex-play fill-in.

Matt Schaub active (11:40 a.m. ET): The Houston Texans' official Twitter feed reports that QB Matt Schaub (chest, probable) is active. He remains a No. 1 fantasy quarterback, albeit a lower-level one with Andre Johnson out.

Jacoby Jones active (11:40 a.m. ET): The Houston Texans' official Twitter feed reports that WR Jacoby Jones (groin, probable) is active. He's a No. 3/4 fantasy wide receiver option this week; Andre Johnson's absence helps assure Jones of a few additional targets.

Andre Johnson inactive (11:40 a.m. ET): The Houston Texans' official Twitter feed reports that WR Andre Johnson (hamstring, out) is inactive.

Joe Haden active (11:37 a.m. ET): The Cleveland Browns' official Twitter feed reports that CB Joe Haden (knee, questionable) is active. Downgrade Sidney Rice's matchup accordingly; Haden is one of the better cover corners in the NFL.

Josh Cribbs active (11:37 a.m. ET): The Cleveland Browns' official Twitter feed reports that WR Josh Cribbs (knee, probable) is active. He's only an option in leagues that reward for return yards.

Evan Moore active (11:37 a.m. ET): The Cleveland Browns' official Twitter feed reports that TE Evan Moore (ankle, probable) is active. His fantasy appeal is entirely linked to him getting the sporadic red-zone target; it's not enough to make him a worthy start this week.

Peyton Hillis inactive (11:35 a.m. ET): The Cleveland Browns' official Twitter feed reports that RB Peyton Hillis (hamstring, questionable) is inactive. Montario Hardesty will get the start in Hillis' place, though a matchup with the Seahawks' run defense caps his fantasy potential as a low-end No. 2 running back. Chris Ogbonnaya will be Hardesty's backup.

Tony Gonzalez active (11:34 a.m. ET): The Atlanta Falcons' official Twitter feed reports that TE Tony Gonzalez (elbow, probable) is active. He remains a top-10 fantasy tight end, despite his advanced age.

Roddy White active (11:34 a.m. ET): The Atlanta Falcons' official Twitter feed reports that WR Roddy White (knee, probable) is active. Though White has been a disappointment so far, primarily due to the Falcons' unwillingness to throw him the football, he has far too much talent for his owners to bail on him. Keep him in there.

Julio Jones inactive (11:33 a.m. ET): The Atlanta Falcons' official Twitter feed reports that WR Julio Jones (hamstring, doubtful) is inactive. This seemed pretty likely; it assures Harry Douglas another start. Douglas is an all-or-nothing type; only regard him a desperation fill-in.

Vincent Jackson active (11:30 a.m. ET): The San Diego Chargers' official Twitter feed reports that WR Vincent Jackson (hamstring, probable) is active. It's unclear whether he'll be stranded on "Revis Island" the entire day, but Antonio Gates' active status could force the Jets to shift coverage at times. Jackson still warrants having active in fantasy, even if it's as more of a No. 2 than No. 1 wideout.

Mike Tolbert active (11:30 a.m. ET): The San Diego Chargers' official Twitter feed reports that RB Mike Tolbert (concussion, probable) is active. Ryan Mathews wasn't on the injury report and is active as well, and he's the Chargers' go-to back when healthy. Expect Tolbert's touches to be limited, his fantasy appeal more of a flex-play desperation on the idea he might get a goal-line chance.

Jacob Hester active (11:30 a.m. ET): The San Diego Chargers' official Twitter feed reports that RB Jacob Hester (foot, probable) is active. With Ryan Mathews and Mike Tolbert both healthy, Hester shouldn't be particularly involved this week.

Antonio Gates active (11:29 a.m. ET): The San Diego Chargers' official Twitter feed reports that TE Antonio Gates (foot, questionable) is active. His practice reports hinted that he'd be active, but don't forget that his injury is the type that could limit him the remainder of the year. Going up against the stingy Jets pass defense, Gates is hardly an automatic top-10 fantasy tight end. That said, on skills he's worth having in there if you're not rich in alternatives at the position.
