Updates/analysis (most recent first)

Miles Austin active (6:59 p.m. ET): Dan Graziano of ESPN's NFC East Blog reports that WR Miles Austin (hamstring, questionable) is active. One should assume that he will start and get a healthy number of targets, meaning he's a No. 2 fantasy wide receiver at the least.

Tony Fiammetta active (6:59 p.m. ET): Dan Graziano of ESPN's NFC East Blog reports that RB Tony Fiammetta (illness, questionable) is active. This is fantastic news if you're a DeMarco Murray owner. Murray's stats had suffered in recent weeks due to the absence of Fiammetta, his lead blocker. Now, Murray might have a chance to crack the top 10 fantasy running backs.

Laurent Robinson active (6:59 p.m. ET): Dan Graziano of ESPN's NFC East Blog reports that WR Laurent Robinson (shoulder, questionable) is active. A healthy Miles Austin threatens to cut deeply into Robinson's target total; fantasy owners should prepare accordingly. Of course, there is always the chance that both receivers will somewhat cancel one another out.

Patrick Willis inactive (2:44 p.m. ET): Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports that LB Patrick Willis (hamstring, questionable) is inactive. This is a huge loss in IDP leagues; make sure you bench Willis in those formats.

Todd Heap active (2:36 p.m. ET): The Arizona Cardinals' official Twitter feed reports that TE Todd Heap (hamstring, questionable) is active. He's minimally involved in the Cardinals' passing game, so consider him a mere desperation choice in fantasy.

Beanie Wells active (2:36 p.m. ET): The Arizona Cardinals' official Twitter feed reports that RB Beanie Wells (knee, probable) is active. The matchup against the 49ers is one of the toughest he'll face all season, and accounting for his health issues this year, he's only a No. 2 fantasy running back this week.

Braylon Edwards active (2:35 p.m. ET): Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports that WR Braylon Edwards (knee, questionable) is active. It's unclear how involved he'll be after being listed as questionable; fantasy owners shouldn't expect much. Treat him as a mere desperation option.

Eddie Royal inactive (2:34 p.m. ET): Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post reports that WR Eddie Royal (concussion, questionable) is inactive. Fantasy owners might scarcely notice his absence.

Willis McGahee active (2:34 p.m. ET): Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post reports that RB Willis McGahee (knee, questionable) is active. He'll start and rank among the week's leaders in rushing attempts simply by the nature of the Broncos' offense. He's somewhat matchup-proof, at least among the No. 2 class of fantasy running backs.

Ray Lewis inactive (11:58 a.m. ET): Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports that LB Ray Lewis (foot, questionable) is inactive.

Mark Ingram inactive (11:55 a.m. ET): The New Orleans Saints' official Twitter feed reports that RB Mark Ingram (toe, out) is inactive, while RB Chris Ivory is active. Expect Ivory to see some work as a change-of-pace option behind Pierre Thomas, though not necessarily enough to matter in most fantasy leagues.

Joe McKnight inactive (11:53 a.m. ET): The New York Jets' official Twitter feed reports that RB Joe McKnight (elbow, questionable) is inactive. Antonio Cromartie will serve as the Jets' kick returner this week, which only helps those in IDP leagues rewarding for return yards. LaDainian Tomlinson will serve as the Jets' No. 2 running back, though he won't be involved enough to help fantasy teams.

Nate Washington active (11:51 a.m. ET): The Tennessee Titans' official Twitter feed reports that WR Nate Washington (ankle, questionable) is active. He'd see a healthy number of targets should the Titans fall behind early; consider him a No. 2/3 option this week.

Aqib Talib inactive (11:51 a.m. ET): ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that CB Aqib Talib (hamstring, out) is inactive. Unfortunately, the Jaguars don't have the kinds of wide receivers that can greatly capitalize upon what's an improved matchup due to Talib's absence.

Josh Freeman active (11:49 a.m. ET): ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that QB Josh Freeman (right shoulder, questionable) is active for the Buccaneers. He'll start at quarterback with Josh Johnson his backup. Consider Freeman only a low-end No. 2 option in two-quarterback leagues, as the Jaguars' defense has been strong against the pass all year.

Billy Cundiff active (11:48 a.m. ET): Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports that K Billy Cundiff (left calf, questionable) is active. The Ravens didn't bring in an extra kicker as insurance late in the week, easing any worry about Cundiff's questionable tag. Start him with confidence.

Kyle Orton inactive (11:46 a.m. ET): Josh Looney of the Kansas City Chiefs reports that QB Kyle Orton (right finger, doubtful) is inactive. Tyler Palko will get the start at quarterback, though he might be the week's worst choice among fantasy quarterbacks going up against the Jets.

Dallas Clark active (11:45 a.m. ET): Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star reports that TE Dallas Clark (fibula, questionable) is active. His questionable tag was never really a worry; his promising practice reports had him setting up for a return to the lineup this week. Still, considering all the Colts' issues, Clark isn't being targeted nearly enough to be more than a low-level No. 2 fantasy tight end.

Kevin Walter active (11:43 a.m. ET): The Houston Texans' official Twitter feed reports that WR Kevin Walter (illness, questionable) is active. With WR Andre Johnson (hamstring, out) sidelined, Walter will be the Texans' No. 1 wide receiver this week. Don't expect earth-shattering statistics, though; the Texans still have quarterback questions and are awfully run-heavy. Walter might only be involved to the point where he's a handy No. 3 fantasy wide receiver.

Darrel Young active (11:41 a.m. ET): Rick Maese of the Washington Post reports that RB Darrel Young (head, probable) is active. In addition, RB Ryan Torain is inactive. Torain's inactive status is somewhat surprising, though his stock had slipped considerably in recent weeks, so the move does make sense. It's all a plus for Roy Helu; his prospects of another 20-plus-touch day are excellent.

Kevin Smith inactive (11:37 a.m. ET): Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports that RB Kevin Smith (ankle, questionable) is inactive for the Lions. Maurice Morris will get the start at running back, if you're looking for a flex-play type to plug in for the week. The matchup against the Vikings, however, is a tough one, so don't expect too much.

Christian Ponder active (11:36 a.m. ET): The Minnesota Vikings' official Twitter feed reports that QB Christian Ponder (hip, questionable) is active. With Adrian Peterson out, the Vikings might ask Ponder to do more to carry the offense. That said, the matchup against the Lions is a challenging one; he's a low-end No. 2 option in two-quarterback leagues, nothing more.

Steve Smith inactive (11:35 a.m. ET): The Philadelphia Eagles' official Twitter feed reports that WR Steve Smith is inactive. He's a healthy scratch, what with Jeremy Maclin active for the game.

Jeremy Maclin active (11:33 a.m. ET): The Philadelphia Eagles' official Twitter feed reports that WR Jeremy Maclin (hamstring, questionable) is active. He was downgraded from probable to questionable over the weekend, however, so prepare under the assumption that he's playing at less than full health. Maclin is a low-end No. 2 fantasy wide receiver facing a hot Dolphins defense.

Adrian Peterson inactive (11:28 a.m. ET): ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that RB Adrian Peterson (ankle, questionable) is inactive. Had Peterson suited up, he'd have been playing at noticeably less than 100 percent, which is why on Friday none of our rankers had him the No. 1 option at his position. Scratch him off your list; frustrating to lose such a valuable piece in these critical weeks. Toby Gerhart will get the start in Peterson's place, and he's a low-end No. 2/high-end flex option against a so-so Lions run defense. Percy Harvin should also get extra rushing work, elevating him to a clear start across the board.

Shane Vereen inactive (11:28 a.m. ET): The New England Patriots' official Twitter feed reports that RB Shane Vereen (hamstring, questionable) is inactive.

Danny Woodhead active (11:27 a.m. ET): The New England Patriots' official Twitter feed reports that RB Danny Woodhead (abdomen, questionable) is active. He's unlikely to see more than a handful of touches -- think 5-8 most likely -- making him a weak choice even in PPR leagues.
