Injured Katayama pulls out of British Open
CARNOUSTIE, Scotland -- Japan's Shingo Katayama pulled out of the British Open on Monday with back and right knee injuries.
His place was taken in the 156-man field by American Lucas Glover.
Katayama, the leading money winner on the Asian Tour, missed the cut in last year's British Open. He was 36th in last month's U.S. Open at Oakmont and was 44th in this year's Masters.
His best British Open finish was 34th in 2003.
Glover has played once in the British Open, missing the cut last year at Royal Liverpool.
