Stuart Appleby became the
first to qualify for next year's Mercedes Championships, but it didn't come easy. After building a five-shot lead with five holes to play on Sunday, Appleby saw his lead whittled to just one by a red-hot Vijay Singh, who birdied four of the last five to finish runner-up by a stroke.
