Hole 1

The skinny:
A slight dogleg right with a deep bunker requiring a 300-yard carry off the tee. Any drive too far left could go into the trees. Most players will opt for 3-wood to avoid both on this uphill hole. The tees were moved 25 yards back and fairway bunker down the right side was extended 15 yards toward the green last year.

Vijay Singh's analysis:
You've got to stay on the left side, or just left of the bunker. It's usually a driver, but they've lengthened the bunker. If you go in the bunker, you have to really hit a good shot to get out. You might see some guys hit a 3-wood to stay left and short of the bunker, because you cannot reach that bunker with a 3-wood. It will be a 7-iron or 8-iron to the green.

How it played in 2002:
Eagles: 0 Birdies: 24 Pars: 179 Bogeys: 60 Double Bogeys: 2 Other: 0
