Woods hasn't played Pebble in several years, but he's obviously made some memories here (see the 2000 U.S. Open).15

Dustin Johnson News: Johnson finished in 61st at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Notes: Johnson struggled mostly with the driver this week and was punished on TPC Scottsdale's risk-reward layout, making a couple embarrassing double and triple bogeys throughout the week. Johnson has yet to come within sniffing distance of a top 10 so far this year, so wait until there's noticeable progress in his game before entrusting in him.24
Phil Mickelson News: Mickelson shot a 73 Sunday to finish in 26th at the Phoenix Open.
Notes: Mickelson was actually on the outskirts of contention going into Sunday but he fell flat on his heels and made some mistakes he knew he couldn't afford to make. Nonetheless, knowing that he was in the mix at one point is an encouraging sign his daughter's health distractions are behind him and good golf is ahead.25
Bubba Watson News: Watson capped his week with a final round 70 to capture his third top-20 in as many starts this year.
Notes: A little known fact was that Watson was actually leading the field in driving accuracy through three rounds while also being in the top five in driving distance. Sunday, however, was not a great ball-striking day for Watson but he finished solidly on the back nine to get inside the top five. He's playing well so keep an eye on him as he's getting closer and closer to breaking through for that first win in 2012.26
Webb Simpson News: Simpson ended with a 72 Sunday to post his second top 10 in three tournaments this year.
Notes: Simpson would probably agree that his final round 72 was anything but pretty. In fact, it was just his second round over par this year in 12 total rounds. He found himself in the final group and never gave himself a glimpse of the lead despite the undoing of Spencer Levin. Simpson had self-proclaimed this a poor ball-striking week altogether, but if he can hit it that poorly and still rack up a top 10 then kudos to him and look out for when he is striking it well, because it must just be gold.27
Ben Crane News: Crane posted a final round 66 to finish runner-up at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Notes: Crane was hot out the gates Sunday and had his chances, but playing partner and eventual champion Kyle Stanley kept him at bay the last few holes and Crane never gave himself a putt to get in a playoff. Crane has quietly put together three top tens in four starts this year so don't be afraid to put this guy in your lineup going forward.28
Kyle Stanley News: Stanley fired a bogey-free six-under 65 to claim his first PGA Tour victory in his first appearance at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Notes: Oh how sweet it must taste to come back with such resiliency after last week's heart-breaker. Stanley played solidly all week and came up with a clutch up-and-down on the 16th, safely escaped from under a cactus on the 17th, and smoothed in the four-footer for par on 18th with a steely resolve to claim victory. It was only a matter of time before Stanley raised a trophy on the PGA Tour, but just one week after his own undoing is something no one could have foreseen.29
Paul Lawrie News: Scotland's Lawrie, 15-under, closed with a bogey-free seven-under 65 to win the Qatar Masters over Australian Jason Day (65) and Sweden's Peter Hanson (67) by five shots. USA's John Daly finished fourth at nine-under.
Notes: 43-year old Lawrie, who won here in 1999, moves from 78th to 45th in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) thus earning spots in the WGC events and the four majors. This is Lawrie's 12th professional title. USA's Shawn Micheel tied for 25th at four-under; USA's Ben Curtis tied for 47th at two-under.30

February 3, 2012
Tommy Gainey News: Gainey withdrew after nine holes of his second round at the Phoenix Open due to illness

Jeff Overton News: Overton withdrew from the Phoenix Open after completing 17 holes of his second round.
Notes: Overton had six bogeys with a lone birdie that came about at the 17th, where he withdrew. His first round 67 had good stats: GIR hitting 13 greens of 18, outstanding putts-per-GIR 1.692, and 28 putts for the round. At this time there is no information about injury.35

Play was suspended due to high winds forcing a resuming of play Saturday morning to complete round two. The event will be truncated to 54 holes, ending on Sunday.

He's climbed to No. 50 in the Offical World Golf Rankings, so there's still a decent chance he can qualify for many of the bigger events this season.56

Notes: Johnson played third wheel in the final grouping Sunday, watching Garrigus and Wilson duel it out. Despite this, Johnson seemed to be returning to the type of golf he was playing late last year, up until the final round that is. Regardless, look for Johnson to build upon this performance going forward.75

Notes: Following Wagner's previous wins he had not fared well in subsequent tournaments, but he's on a mission to prove that won't happen this time around. Notes: Coles shot four-under to tie for 38th at last week's Sony Open. His putting stats were very good: 11th in putts-per-GIR, 1.682 and a tie for 11th in putts-per-round, 27.8. The 1.682 is a number usually seen on a winner's scorecard, or top-five finishers. Coles' problem was the 12 bogeys that dragged down his eagle and 14 birdies.79
Alex Cejka News: Cejka has been removed from the field of the Humana Challenge.
Notes: Cejka probably would like to avoid playing the first three rounds in the pro-am format - a guess. He has some pressure inasmuch as he is going to play in the Major Medical Extension category to make $323, 264 in five starts. Playing without the slow pace of pro-ams appeals to many pros.80
Jhonattan Vegas News: Vegas is in the field for the Humana Challenge this week.
Notes: Vegas finished 46th with a three-under at the Sony Open last week. He won the Humana (formerly Bob Hope Classic) last year. Vegas did not have a top-50 performance stat ranking in 2011 but still finished 24th in the FedEx Cup standings.81

Notes: Hearn finished tenth with a nine-under at the Sony Open last week. He did not play at the Humana last year. The 32-year old made 19 of 26 cuts with six top-25 finishes in 2011.82
Matt Every News: Every is in the field for the Humana Challenge this week.
Notes: Every finished sixth with a ten-under at the Sony Open last week. A disappointing 72 in the final round took him out of contention for the win. He did not play in the Humana last year.83
Brian Gay News: Gay is in the field for the Humana Challenge this week.
Notes: Gay finished sixth with a ten-under at the Sony Open last week. He finished fifth at the Humana last year. Gay ranked fourth in driving accuracy percentage and 17th in strokes gained-putting in 2011.84
Harrison Frazar News: Frazar is in the field for the Humana Challenge this week.
Notes: Frazar finished second with an 11-under at the Sony Open last week. He finished 54th at the Humana last year. Frazar ranked 17th in driving distance last year but had a negative strokes gained-putting percentage last year.85
Sean O'Hair News: O'Hair is in the field for the Humana Challenge this week.
Notes: O'Hair finished second with an 11-under in the Sony Open last week. He did not play in the Humana last year. O'Hair did not rank in the top-50 in any performance stat in 2011 and even had a negative strokes-gained putting average. He has several top-20 stat rankings in 2012 and his two-for-two made cut ratio reflects that.86
Carl Pettersson News: Pettersson is in the field for the Humana Challenge this week.
Notes: Pettersson finished second with an 11-under at the Sony Open last week. He did not play in the Humana (formerly Bob Hope Classic) last year. Carl finished 23rd in strokes gained-putting in 2011 and finished seventh in the FedEx Cup standings.87
William McGirt News: McGirt has been added to the field of the Humana Challenge.
Notes: McGirt tied for 19th, seven-under, at last week's Sony Open. He was long off the tee last week at 304 yards with tight fairways limiting him to average of 6.5 of 14 fairways. Overall putting per GIR was 1.891 but, in rounds three and four, he had two putts per GIR and 30 or more putts in those two rounds. He racked up 12 birdies with only five bogeys.88
Kevin Stadler News: Stadler is no longer in the field for the Humana Challenge, PGA Tour reports.
Notes: Stadler has had good results here in past years. He is replaced by William McGirt.89

Kyle Thompson News: Thompson has been added to the field of the Humana Challenge.
Notes: Thompson missed the cut at the Sony Open last week. His 75-73 put him eight-over with three birdies and 11 bogeys.90
Charlie Beljan News: Beljan has been added to the field of the Humana Challenge.
Notes: He missed the cut, 73-74= seven-over at last week's Sony Open. He struggled to hit the tight fairways and his six birdies got smothered by seven bogeys and three double bogeys.91
Kyle Reifers News: Reifers has been added to the field of the Humana Challenge.
Notes: Reifers missed the cut at last week's Sony Open by just one shot, He had some problems with the tight fairways which led him to eight bogeys that negated his eight birdies. This week is a birdie-fest and a player needs a ton of birds and very few bogeys.92
Davis Love III News: Love's name has been removed from the field of the Humana Challenge according to PGA Tour.com.
Notes: Love missed the cut at the Sony Open last week. He may be taking time to address some swing problems.93
Jesper Parnevik News: Parnevik is no longer listed in the field of the Humana Challenge according to PGA Tour.com.
Notes: Parnevik, at six-over, missed the cut at the Sony Open last week. Fantasy-wise says wait until you see some solid results in his game before signing up with him.94

Charles Howell III News: Howell closed with a final round 69 en route to a second place finish at the Sony Open Sunday.
Notes: Howell is a horse for the course at Waialae Country Club, but for whatever reason hasn't been able to win here despite all the top fives he's had. This week he played bridesmaid yet again as he watched playing partner Johnson Wagner steal the show and the big check. Howell will now catch the red-eye flight to the mainland and play in the Humana Challenge next week.95
Steve Stricker News: Stricker followed up his win at the Hyundai TOC with a 38th place finish at the Sony Open.
Notes: Stricker was admittedly worn out early this week after his win this past Monday, but he held strong the first three days and was within four going into Sunday, but he ran out of steam with a final round 74.96
K.J. Choi News: Choi posted rounds of 65-73-67-71 to finish in 38th in Honolulu.
Notes: The 2008 Sony Open champion rode the roller coaster this week and was never able to string together two solid rounds consecutively. Look for Choi to rebound as he heads back to the mainland.97

Notes: Bertsch had one start to earn $241,285. Not attaining the target leaves him to play in Conditional Status having placed at 143rd in the 2011 PGA Tour money list.99
