Le Vesconte, Jones lead after first round
MELBOURNE, Australia -- Australians Adam Le Vesconte and Brendan Jones moved into position to play in the British Open, shooting 3-under 69s in the wind Tuesday to share the first-round lead in an international qualifying tournament.
The top four players after the second round Wednesday will earn spots in the July 15-18 tournament at Royal Troon in Scotland.
Australia's Euan Walters opened with a 70 on the Kingston Heath course, and countrymen Paul Sheehan, David McKenzie, Andrew Buckle and Craig Carmichael shot 71s.
