A quick look at Friday's 16 second-round matches at the Accenture Match Play Championship. The matches were scheduled to be played Thursday, but rain washed out play.

BOBBY JONES BRACKET | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Matchup | Tee time (ET) | Analysis | |
(8) Trevor Immelman |
10:36 am | After barely surviving John Rollins, Woods now faces Immelman, the up-and-coming South African who took out the red-hot Shigeki Maruyama. | |
| (4) Thomas Bjorn vs. (5) Fredrik Jacobson |
10:36 am* | A matchup of two prominent European players. Both played well Wednesday, coasting through their first-round matches. | |
| (2) David Toms vs. (10) Shaun Micheel |
These two former PGA champions each needed extra holes to win their first-round matches. Give the edge to Micheel, as Toms is still a little rusty. | ||
(11) Bob Estes |
10 am* | Estes is the highest seed remaining in this bracket. Harrington has reached the second round in each of the last two years. | |
GARY PLAYER BRACKET | |||
| Matchup | Tee time (ET) | Analysis | |
(8) Jerry Kelly |
10:54 am | After beating Sergio Garcia, Kelly said he had "nothing to lose" in Thursday's match with Singh, who clobbered Shingo Katayama. | |
| (4) Chad Campbell vs. (12) Loren Roberts |
After surviving a battle with fellow veteran Jay Haas, Roberts faces a tall task to take out Campbell, who thumped Tim Herron. | ||
| (2) Kenny Perry vs. (10) Steve Flesch |
Perry's 6 and 4 win over Jeff Sluman on Wednesday was the biggest blowout of the first round. | ||
| (3) Darren Clarke vs. (11) Alex Cejka |
10:18 am* | Clarke needed a chip-in for eagle on the 18th and seven extra holes to win his first-round match, while Cejka easily beat Justin Leonard. | |
SAM SNEAD BRACKET | |||
| Matchup | Tee time (ET) | Analysis | |
(9) Fred Couples |
11:03 am | This should be a great match to follow. Love and Couples are close friends, expect some playful banter Thursday. | |
| (4) Robert Allenby vs. (5) Adam Scott |
11:03 am* | A matchup of a couple of Australians. Both went far at last year's Match Play. | |
| (2) Phil Mickelson vs. (10) Ben Curtis |
This clash pits the best player never to have won a major and probably the least likely major champ in recent history. Mickelson played very well Wednesday. | ||
| (3) Stuart Appleby (6) Chris DiMarco |
10:27 am* | Both have played well so far in 2004, and Appleby cruised through his first-round match 5 and 4. | |
BEN HOGAN BRACKET | |||
| Matchup | Tee time (ET) | Analysis | |
| (1) Mike Weir vs. (8) Stephen Leaney |
10:45 am | Both finished in the top 3 at last year's U.S. Open. Weir had an easy time with Rich Beem on Wednesday. | |
(12) Stewart Cink |
Monty rallied late against Nick Price to avoid an early trip home, while Cink dispatched K.J. Choi 4 and 2. | ||
| (15) John Huston vs. (7) Peter Lonard |
10:09 am | Huston is the highest seed remaining after upsetting Retief Goosen 2 and 1 Wednesday. | |
| (14) Duffy Waldorf vs. (11) Ian Poulter |
10:09 am* | Both pulled off upsets Wednesday, but one of these Cinderellas will be going home Thursday night. | |
