Bandon Dunes Golf Resort (Bandon Dunes Course)
57744 Round Lake Dr.
Bandon, OR 97411
The Bandon Dunes course opened in May of 1999 and immediately was recognized as one of the best in the United States.
Owner Michael Keiser of Chicago, who earned a fortune selling greeting cards made of recycled paper, invested some $15 million and hired obscure 27-year-old Scottish architect David McLay Kidd. Though not a household name, Kidd produced a course good enough to be named best new public course of 1999 by Golf Digest. It is also currently one of a select few to earn 5-star status from Golf Digest's Places to Play.
Seven holes, including No. 16 (shown here) run along the edge of the bluff, some 100 feet about the Pacific Ocean.
