Port Royal Golf Course #5 Port Royal Drive Southampton, Bermuda 441-234-0974 |
Port Royal is a government-owned public course that was designed by Robert Trent Jones and opened in 1970. And for nearly 35 years, one of the most photographed holes in golf (and worth every roll of film) has been the 165-yard par-3 16th that hugs the cliffs. Once you're done snapping pictures, however, the hole presents a stern challenge. In fact, depending on the wind, it can play anywhere between a 4- and an 8-iron.
The wind and numerous uphill shots present challenges throughout, making the course play longer than its 6,425 yards. And the narrow fairways leave little margin for error. But most golfers don't care, instead preferring to focus on the numerous ocean views.
