Overall, Myopia has hosted four U.S. Opens. The first, in 1898, was played when the course was only nine holes, requiring the contestants to play the course eight times. Fred Herd shot 328 (84-85-75-84) to win by seven shots. The scoring record has been set 12 times since. Jack Nicklaus, Lee Janzen and Tiger Woods share the current mark of 272.

In 1905, Willie Anderson won a record third straight U.S. Open championship (and fourth overall). Played at Myopia, Anderson posted a 314 total to win by two strokes over Alex Smith. At the same site in 1901, Anderson defeated Smith in a playoff for his first Open title.
