Ryder Cup captain: 'I don't take it personally'
"I don't want to cause any problems; this is not an issue," Lehman said after an opening-round 68 on Thursday at the Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational.
Woods said Wednesday while playing in Japan that he was disappointed close friend Mark O'Meara was not selected as captain.
"Tiger and I get along just fine," said Lehman, the former British Open champion selected earlier this month. "He's upset with the PGA of America that his buddy is not the captain. And when I see him I will say, 'I understand.'
"I don't take it personally," he said.
Lehman plans to speak with Woods in the near future.
"I think it's important to talk and have very open discussions," Lehman said. "I want to hear everyone's opinions and concerns. It's part of the job as captain."
