In 1943 Baltusrol Golf Club's contribution to the wartime meat shortage included converting its fairways to livestock raising as 140 sheep, 30 steers, 10 heifers, eight calves, eight horses and four milk cows were readied for market on the club's grounds.

Still, golf has always been the top priority here. No. 4 on the Lower Course here is a 194-yard par 3 with a two-tiered green protected by water in the front and three bunkers behind. Robert Trent Jones Sr. made an ace here that quickly quieted the critics of his course redesign. Even better, this great course is just a short hop from this week's Giants/Eagles game at the Meadowlands.
