PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem has been announced as the winner of the 2005 Dick Schaap Lifetime Achievement in Sports Award from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA).

Finchem will be honored on Dec. 1 at an awards dinner to benefit the Greater New York Chapter of CCFA.

"We are proud of what our tournaments do for charities [more than $1 billion raised since the Tour began]," said Finchem. "And the active role we have been able to take as an organization in growing the game for future generations."

The award was established in 2002 by the Greater New York Chapter of CCFA in memory of the long-time sports journalist and broadcaster who was a strong ally of the foundation for many years. The award goes to a sports leader who has reached the pinnacle of achievement in his or her sport while making significant contributions to their communities.

Other winners include New York Yankees manager Joe Torre, NBC Sports' Dick Ebersol and NASCAR commissioner Bill France.
