Singh's game is finally coming around
OK, it's getting late in the season, and you've fallen about a million bucks behind the leader in your fantasy golf pool. With time running out, that's not an easy deficit to make up.
Unless you haven't picked Vijay Singh yet.
The Fijian's game finally appears to be coming around just in time for the 84 Lumber's swan song at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort's Mystic Rock course -- where Singh has fared well in the past, finishing T-13 last year and winning in 2004. He also possesses the two skills most agree are necessary there: hitting it long and hitting it on the green. And unlike most weeks, you do not necessarily have to putt lights-out to contend. Jason Gore won last year with a trio of three-putts while ranking just T-27 for the week from the short grass.
So if you are in a league where you can only use a player once and still have Singh available, this would be a good time to pull the trigger. Despite having an off year, Singh has managed to finish in the top 10 in half his 22 starts. Combine that with a relatively weak field and he sticks out as the logical choice. It might leave you a little shorthanded heading into the Tour Championship, but worry about that later. Besides, unless you play a little catch-up right now, that tournament's not going to mean very much to you anyway, is it?
