PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- Matt Gogel, a one-time tournament winner during his seven-year PGA Tour career, announced his retirement on Saturday.

Gogel, 35, won the 2002 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and also finished second to Tiger Woods in the 2000 event. But Gogel finished out the top-125 for the first time in 2006, making the cut in only three of 14 PGA Tour events.

He finished 214th on the money list with $108,230.

"The past two years I just didn't have chances to win," said Gogel, currently playing in the unofficial Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational.

"I always said I was never going to play the game if I could win or at least be competitive."

Gogel, who has earned $4.5 mllion during his career, said the 2007 AT&T National Pro-Am next February will be his last PGA Tour event. Gogel, who has 16 top-10 finishes in his PGA Tour career, said he plans to enter the course golf business.
