Sluman returning for third tour of duty with U.S. team
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Jeff Sluman is back as a captain's assistant for the United States Presidents Cup team, alongside captain Jack Nicklaus.

It's Sluman's third time in the role. He was the captain's assistant in 2003 in South Africa (a 17-17 tie) and in 2005 when the U.S. defeated the International Team.
The Presidents Cup team will be announced on Aug. 13. The top 10 players on the PGA Tour money list from Aug. 15, 2005 through Aug. 13, 2007 (with 2007 money doubled) are automatic members of the team. There will be two captains picks announced on Aug. 14. Currently, Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson, Zack Johnson, Charles Howell III, David Toms, Steve Stricker, Stewart Cink, Scott Verplank and Lucas Glover are the top 10 Americans. John Rollins trailes Glover by less than $100,000. He's followed by Brett Wetterich, Mark Calcavecchia, Chad Campbell and Jerry Kelly. The Matches are Sept. 28-30 at Royal Montreal Golf Club. "I couldn't be happier to once again serve as assistant to Jack," Sluman said in a statement released by the PGA Tour. "Being a part of the past two Presidents Cups has been an incredible experience, and assisting one of the greatest players in history and a true ambassador of the game will certainly go down as a highlight of my career. I really look forward to helping the U.S. Team in whatever way I can in Montreal." "Jeff has been an important part of the U.S. Team for the past two Presidents Cups," Nicklaus said in the same statement. "I've enjoyed working with Jeff and it only feels right to have him as part of the team again as we head to Montreal." The International Team, captained by Gary Player, will be announced later in August.
