Golfers will be asked to donate $1 to benefit military families
The United States Golf Association and PGA of America have combined forces to support the first Patriot Golf Day, set for Sept. 1.
In honor of Patriot Golf Day, participating golf facilities throughout the country will ask each golfer playing that day to donate $1, which will be donated to the Wounded Warriors on behalf of The Fallen Heroes Foundation. The foundation assists the children of soldiers who have become disabled or died in Iraq or Afghanistan with educational scholarships and family support.
USGA and PGA of America member Dan Rooney, who served two tours of duty in Iraq, was the brainchild of the event.
Participating facilities are available at the playgolfamerica Web site.
