Webster's blistering finish, the European Tour's best winning final round of the season by a shot, took him to 263, 25-under-par, also the best aggregate of the season.
Argentine Daniel Vancsik, leader for the second and third rounds, had to settle for third place for the second successive week after again surrendering a winning position.
Webster began the final round a stroke behind Vancsik and was level with the Argentine at the turn.
As Vancsik faltered, Webster's eagle on the long 12th and three birdies in the next five holes, kept Karlsson at bay and the Briton could afford a bogey on the last.
After being congratulated by his father Terry on the 18th, the 32-year-old, who added to his 2005 Italian Open title, said his victory was an emotional one.
"I lost my mum in the early part of the season and it really knocked me about," he told reporters. "I didn't think I'd even keep my card because it was tough.
"But I had a great result at Loch Lomond [Scottish Open in July] and that seemed to help me turn the corner, I became more positive.
"It was so hard out there today, especially coming down the stretch, because I was thinking about my mum all the time and it was so hard to keep my mind on the golf. But I knew she was looking down on me."
Webster's mother Valerie died in May from cancer.
