EAST LONDON, South Africa -- South African star Retief Goosen won the Sunshine Tour's Africa Open on Sunday, closing with a 7-under 65 for a one-stroke victory over Darren Clarke, Branden Grace, Michael Hoey and Darren Fichardt.
Goosen had a 21-under 267 total on the East London Golf Club course.
"This year, I feel I'm a little more prepared for the game than over the last couple of years," the two-time U.S. Open champion said. "I have been working hard on my fitness and everything. I'm probably the fittest now that I've been in the last five years."
Clarke finished with a 70, Grace shot a 65, Hoey had a 66 and Fichardt a 68.
