Sore neck forces Love out
LAKE BUENA VISTA , Fla. -- Davis Love withdrew from the Children's Miracle Network Classic on Thursday, citing a sore neck. The tournament's defending champion shot 1-over-par 73 and later decided not to continue.
"I woke up with a really stiff neck, and didn't think I was even going to play. I only hit balls for about 10 minutes before I played. And then I started good. I was 2-under real quick, and would have been 3-under, but I hit a wrong ball, so I started good, just got stiffer and stiffer as I went along.
"So hopefully it'll loosen up. If not, I may be done for the year."
After going to the tour's fitness trailer for treatment, Love told tournament officials he was withdrawing.
A year ago, Love, 45, shot a final-round 64 to claim his 20th PGA Tour title. He came into the event ranked 51st on the PGA Tour money list.
