A total of 118 amateurs are playing in the event on the West Course at Kasumigaseki Country Club
"I played perfectly today with no bogeys, and I only missed the green on one hole," he said. "I think I play well at Kasumigaseki, so hopefully I can do better than last year, when I finished 41st, because I really want to play in the Masters in the future."
The winner earns a spot in 2011 Masters. The winner and runners up get a berth in International Final Qualifying for the Open Championship next year.
