Hideki Matsuyama takes 3-shot lead
TOKYO -- Japan's Hideki Matsuyama shot a 6-under 65 Saturday in the rain for a three-stroke lead at the Asian Amateur Championship at Kasumigaseki Country Club in Japan.
Matsuyama, 18, has a three-round total of 11-under 202, ahead of Tarquin MacManus of Australia.
Singapore's Lam Zhiqun, who had five birdies Friday for a 66 and a one-shot lead after the second round, shot 7-over 78 for a total of even-par 213.
Sunday's final round will start earlier than planned because of a forecast of poor weather.
Matsuyama had a quick start, making four birdies in his first five holes, and had back-to-back birdies on Nos. 15 and 16.
MacManus shot a second straight 4-under 67. The 21-year-old, a senior at Arizona, made four birdies in a bogey-free round.
