Fleisher 'relieved', hopes to play in Senior Players
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Bruce Fleisher hopes to return for the Senior Players Championship next week after preliminary results from a prostate exam showed no indications of cancer.
Fleisher's doctor, Dr. John Parente, is expecting negative results after a biopsy Tuesday showed no sign of cancer.
"He has no symptoms at all, and it was an exercise in relieving his mind," Parente said. "I think it will all be negative."
Fleisher, 53, discovered an increase in his number of protein specific antigen (PSA) on June 12 after he took a free tournament physical in Nashville.
He said that weighed heavily on him last week in the U.S. Senior Open, where he missed the cut as the defending champion.
"I'm absolutely relieved at the indications," Fleisher said.
Final results from the biopsy are expected in about a week.
