Wie fires 70, but still trails leader by 17 strokes
WESTFIELD CENTER, Ohio -- Honolulu's Michelle Wie improved her overall score with a 1-under par 70 on Friday but still remains well behind the leaders at the Westfield Junior PGA Championship at Westfield Group Country Club.
Wie moved up three places to 13th with a three-round total of 220, but she is still 17 strokes behind girls division leader Sung Ea Lee, who shot an even-par 71 to put her at 10-under 203 heading into Saturday's final round.
Lee, a 17-year-old from Tacoma, Wash., holds a six-shot lead over In-Bee Park of Eustis, Fla., who also shot a 71 to stay in second place at 209.
In the boys division, Tyler Aldridge, of Nampa, Idaho, shot a 2-under 69 to push his lead to five shots. Aldridge has a three-day total of 206. In a three-way tie for second place, with 211, are Adam Pozark, of Poway, Calif.; Warren Thomas of Columbia, S.C.; and Matt Savage of Louisville, Ky.
