Harrington trails Dixon by a stroke; Monty shoots 72

SUTTON COLDFIELD, England -- David Dixon shot a 6-under-par 66 Thursday for a one-stroke lead over Padraig Harrington after the first round of the Benson and Hedges International.

Defending champion Angel Cabrera of Argentine and Henrik Stenson of Sweden, the 2001 winner, were tied for third after opening 68s.

Dixon's round on The Belfry's Brabazon Course, site of the Ryder Cup matches in September, included two eagles, four birdies and two bogeys.

Harrington had an eagle, four birdies and a bogey in his opening 67.

Colin Montgomerie, coming off a tie for second place at the Italian Open last week, shot a 72. Sam Torrence struggled to an 82.
