Pinehurst No. 2 selected to host 2014 U.S. Open

OAKMONT, Pa. -- Pinehurst will host the U.S. Open in 2014, U.S. Golf Association officials announced on Wednesday.

The 2014 championship will be played from June 12-15 on the No. 2 course, venue of the 2005 edition won by Michael Campbell of New Zealand and the 1999 Open won by American Payne Stewart.

The Pinehurst resort in North Carolina will also stage the 2008 U.S. Amateur from Aug. 18-24.
