ESPN RISE REGIONAL BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
East: Dion Waiters
Life Center Academy (Burlington, N.J.)
In a 74-58 victory over Our Savior New American (Centereach, N.Y.) at the PrimeTime Shootout in Trenton, N.J., the 6-foot-4 senior guard connected for 34 points. Waiters, the No. 15 player in the ESPNU 100 and bound for Syracuse, is a survivor of the tough streets of South Philadelphia who has attended four other high schools but has settled in at Life Center Academy.
Southeast: Chris Jones
Melrose (Memphis, Tenn.)
The 5-foot-10 junior guard who has committed to Tennessee led Melrose's 92-78 win over FAB 50 ranked White Station (Memphis, Tenn.). He pumped in 34 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter and made 13-of-14 free throws. Jones is on the ESPNU Super 60 list.
Midwest: Erik Fromm
Bloomington South (Bloomington, Ind.)
The 6-foot-9 senior center is one of the reasons Bloomington South is still unbeaten and is in the top five of the FAB 50 national rankings. Fromm, headed to Butler, had 20 points and nine rebounds in a big win last week vs. Warren Central (Indianapolis, Ind.). Two weeks ago, he had 26 points and 15 rebounds vs. Pike (Indianapolis, Ind.).
Southwest: Cole Martin
Creighton Prep (Omaha, Neb.)
A 6-foot-2 senior guard, Martin paced Creighton Prep to its 74-65 win last week over No. 1 state ranked Central (Omaha, Neb.). He made 7-of-8 on 3-point attempts, finished 13-of-14 on shooting for the game and ended with 40 points. He also had 30 points in another outing
West: Anrio Adams
Franklin (Seattle, Wash.)
Coming from the same high school as NBA guards Jason Terry and Aaron Brooks, another to watch is Adams. Just a sophomore, the 5-foot-10 guard led the defending Class4A state champs with 41 points in a 99-69 triumph last week against Hale (Seattle, Wash.).
