Who's got game? Each month, ESPN Rise finds out. Here are two athletes who we recognized from Oregon in September:
ELLIOT JANTZER
PHOENIX -- BOYS' CROSS COUNTRY
This is the year that Jantzer firmly establishes himself as the best boys' cross country runner in the state. Maybe that's not such a bold prediction, though, since he was pretty close to that designation last year. As a junior in 2007, Jantzer won the Class 4A state meet with a time of 15:35 and qualified for the Foot Locker West Regional, where he placed 18th.
LEVI LEVASA
TUALATIN -- FOOTBALL
The only junior named either first or second team Class 6A All- State offense last year, Levasa is primed to have a monster senior year. Levasa threw for 2,097 yards and accounted for 20 total touchdowns while leading Tualatin to the Class 6A championship game. It's not hard to see where Levasa gets his skills from: his father played football for Oregon State and he's cousins with NFL quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo.
