Trinity retains top spot in FAB 50

ESPN will release the ESPN RISE FAB 50 national football rankings to start each week of the regular season. The rankings combine three previously independent polls and are compiled by a panel of voters, including Doug Huff (Wheeling, W. Va.); Jon Mahoney (Brooklyn, N.Y.); Sheldon Shealer (Myersville, Md.); Brian Stumpf (Torrance, Calif.) and Mark Tennis (Stockton, Calif.). Kynon Codrington, Christopher Lawlor, Mike Loveday, Bob Masajo and Paul Muyskens also contributed to the poll.

Trinity High, of Euless, Texas remains at the top spot in the first poll of the regular season. Duncan, S.C.'s Byrnes moved up two spots to No. 8 after defeating North Gwinnett (Ga.), 36-21.

Dropped Out: Previous No. 27 Joliet Catholic (Joliet, Ill.); No. 39 Miami Northwestern (Miami, Fla.); No. 40 Katy (Katy, Texas); No. 43 Pahokee (Pahokee, Fla.); No. 45 East St. Louis (East St. Louis, Ill.); No. 49 Blue Springs South (Blue Springs, Mo.).

*Ties in points are broken according to which team was ranked higher by a majority of panelists.

Note: All games involving Florida schools with out-of-state opponents will count in the ESPN RISE FAB 50. If a matchup between two Florida schools from last weekend was regarded as a "preseason" or "practice" game by the Florida High School Athletic Association, those games will not be counted on those teams' records for these rankings.
