ESPN will release the ESPN RISE FAB 50 national football rankings to start each week of the regular season and playoffs.
After losing in overtime to Union, of Tulsa, Okla., Jenks plummeted all the way to No. 50 in the rankings. The Trojans look to get back on track when they face 0-2 Owasso. The top two spots in the FAB 50 remained intact. No. 1 Trinity, of Euless, Texas, routed Cedar Hills, and No. 2 Lowndes, of Valdosta, Ga., shut down defending Georgia 4A state champ Ware County.
1. Trinity (Euless, Texas)
Record: 2-0
Points: 250, five first-place votes
Previous rank: 1
The clash of recent Class 5A state champions Friday turned into a cakewalk for the top-ranked Trojans, as Trinity, the 2007 5A Division I state champs, pasted Cedar Hill, the 2006 5A Division II state champs, 37-14. The Trojans' physical offensive line dominated the action, paving the way for more than 250 rushing yards and 441 yards of total offense. They didn't punt for the entire game. Tevin Williams ran for 96 yards and two scores while Nebraska pledge Trey Robinson rumbled for 56 yards and a touchdown to lead the ground attack. Trinity will face another potentially taxing nondistrict contest Friday at regionally ranked Allen.
2. Lowndes (Valdosta, Ga.)
Record: 3-0
Points: 245
Previous rank: 2
Watch Highlights
This game was over when running back Greg Reid scored the first of his two touchdowns, as the Vikings blanked Ware County on Friday night, 30-0. The Lowndes defense also shut down last year's 4A state runner-up Gators. This is the third straight week that the Vikings were unanimously voted in the FAB 50 as the nation's No. 2-ranked team. Reid & Co. next face Colquitt County at home.
3. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
Record: 2-0
Points: 238
Previous rank: 4
The Raiders were idle last week, but they inched up one spot in this week's rankings. Their two performances so far makes them a strong No. 1 in Florida, but the primary reason they moved up was a less-than-scintillating outing by previous No. 3 De La Salle of Concord, Calif., in its first game. Head coach George Smith's team returns to action Sept. 26 against South Plantation.
4. Gateway (Monroeville, Pa.)
Record: 3-0
Points: 233
Previous rank: 7
Known better as one of the nation's top linebackers, Gateway senior and Ohio State commit Dorian Bell has proven to be quite the running back this year as well. In a 42-0 win over Latrobe, Bell carried the ball only four times but gained 126 yards and scored three touchdowns, including a 90-yarder. Senior Brian Williams added two touchdowns, while senior Corey Brown added a touchdown reception. Gateway plays Penn-Trafford on Friday, and the two will play for the Victory Bell for this first time since 1956.
5. De La Salle (Concord, Calif.)
Record: 1-0
Points: 231
Previous rank: 3
It's a drop of two spots for the Spartans after they narrowly escaped with the win in their opening game. After De La Salle scored with 5:43 left on a 5-yard run by quarterback Blake Wayne, the Spartans still trailed host Junipero Serra of San Mateo by one point. A poor snap followed on the ensuing PAT, but junior Terron Williams-Ward picked up the ball and ran into the end zone for a two-point conversion. De La Salle's defense then stopped a fourth-down play by Serra to preserve a 29-28 win. Head coach Bob Ladouceur's team travels to Southern California to face Loyola of Los Angeles on Saturday.
6. Byrnes (Duncan, S.C.)

8. Armwood (Seffner, Fla.)
Record: 2-0
Points: 215
Previous rank: 11
The Hawks throttled Tampa Wharton 52-10 in a strong follow-up to their win on ESPNU over Tampa Plant. Armwood's stout defense held Wharton to minimal yardage until the late going. The Tarblooders opened their defense of their stranglehold on the Senate League title with a 19-0 blanking of Cleveland South. It was the 73rd consecutive league win for Glenville, which has won the past 10 Senate League crowns. This past weekend, it was a 17-10 win over New Jersey's top-ranked team and FAB 50 No. 6 Don Bosco Prep. Earlier, St. Xavier handed Alabama's No. 1-ranked team, Prattville, its lone loss. The impressive out-of-state wins also help bolster the FAB 50 stature of other Ohio teams including Colerain, which handed St. Xavier its lone loss. 23. Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.)
Record: 0-1
Points: 136*
Previous rank: 6
The Ironmen couldn't get anything going offensively at then-No. 27 St. Xavier (Cincinnati) en route to dropping their opener, 17-10. The only touchdown scored by Don Bosco came off an interception return by junior linebacker Paul Sakowski. Senior Patrick Murray added a field goal. Despite the offensive struggles, the Ironmen still had a chance to tie the game with just over a minute left to play, but senior quarterback Brett Knief's fourth-down pass from the St. Xavier 20-yard line was broken up at the goal line. The loss snapped a 24-game winning streak for Don Bosco, which hosts Valley Forge Military Academy (Wayne, Pa.) before taking on No. 5 De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) on Sept. 27 on ESPNU.
24. Maryville (Maryville, Tenn.)

Damascus is riding a 13-game win streak; its most-recent loss was to Quince Orchard in 2007. The rains from Tropical Storm Hanna pushed the team's Sept. 5 scheduled season opener to Sept. 8, which it won 26-21, followed by Friday's 25-6 win over Churchill in a short week.

31. North Shore (Houston, Texas)
Record: 2-0

35. Permian (Odessa, Texas)
Record: 2-0
Points: 76*
Previous rank: 43
Monterey was supposed to provide the toughest challenge to Permian in the newly realigned District 2-5A. If that's the case, Friday's 49-7 beatdown that Mojo put on the Plainsmen is a great sign of things to come for Permian. Alan Castillejos scored on three short scoring runs for the Panthers, who also received 113 yards and a touchdown on the ground from Sherard Ray. Permian hosts 2-1 Amarillo on Friday.

A missed extra point had the Bears leading by just one entering the halftime break, but Zach Thenell threw his second and third touchdown passes to increase the lead to 26-13 quickly in the third quarter. Up next for the Bears is a tough test against Pomona before they face perennial power Columbine.
37. Broken Arrow (Broken Arrow, Okla.)
Record: 2-0
Points: 75
Previous rank: NR
For the first time since 2001, the Tigers are 2-0 to start a season after defeating Owasso by a 28-14 score. Junior Steven Hopper, filling in for an injured Jerrod Green, rushed the ball for 132 yards and two touchdowns as the Tigers finally stopped a three-game losing streak to the Rams. Playing a big factor in Broken Arrow's rise into the rankings this week was a Tulsa Union win over Jenks, which had been No. 5 in the ESPN RISE FAB 50. Broken Arrow defeated Tulsa Union, 24-9, in its season opener. Up next is the first road game of the year at Washington of Tulsa.
38. Northside (Warner Robins, Ga.)
Record: 3-0
Points: 62
Previous rank: 42
The battle of defending state champions on Friday was decided by special teams as Northside edged Carver-Columbus 7-6. It appeared that John Curtis would blow out Capitol, as running backs Kenny Cain (76 yards) and Torrey Pierce (73 yards) scored on long runs to help the squad build an 18-0 lead. But Capitol pulled to within 18-12 before John Curtis reeled off 22 straight points to secure the win. Next up for John Curtis is a home game against Salmen.
41. Stone Bridge (Ashburn, Va.)

Previous rank: 49
If it's not enough that its offense scores at will, Stone Bridge's defense is getting into the action as well. The team returned a pair of interceptions for touchdowns as Stone Bridge routed Marshall 63-0 on Friday. The team, with its high-powered, single-wing offense, is averaging more than 50 points per game this season. Union won for the second straight year in the regular season. Thomas Roberson opened the scoring with a 47-yard touchdown run, and QB Chase Boyce made it 14-3 at halftime on a 1-yard quarterback sneak. Points: 29
Previous rank: 48
Abilene's defense made two goal-line stands in the final two minutes to preserve a 20-13 win over regionally-ranked rival Abilene Cooper on Friday night at a packed Shotwell Stadium. The Eagles seemingly cinched the victory with 1:30 remaining when Karsten Goodman broke up a fourth down pass, but after Abilene lost a fumble three plays later, the Eagles' defense once again stood strong as Cooper eventually turned the ball over on downs in another first-and-goal scenario. Stephen Warren hit only five of 12 passes for 89 yards and was intercepted twice, but he threw two touchdowns. Tyler Hale returned an interception for a score. The Eagles host Tyler Lee on Friday.

50. Jenks (Jenks, Okla.)
Record: 1-1
Points: 15
Previous rank: 5
The Trojans knew they would be in for a battle against their rivals from Tulsa, and despite a tremendous rally late to force overtime, the defending 6A state champions were unable to get the win over Tulsa Union and fell by a 24-17 score in overtime. Backup signal-caller Beau Marsain rallied the team for two touchdowns in the final eight minutes on fourth-down plays, then scored the two-point conversion while rushing the ball, to force the extra time after the game looked to be all but over.
