Top teams tune up for playoffs

Updated: November 4, 2008, 3:25 PM ET

ESPN will release the ESPN RISE FAB 50 national football rankings to start each week of the regular season and playoffs.

Results as of Nov. 1.

Halloween night was completely normal with no tricks and lots of treats for every ESPN RISE FAB 50 nationally-ranked team that was in action, as they all posted victories.

Saturday night was almost the same, except in Texas where Lufkin High ended the undefeated hopes of No. 35 The Woodlands with a 15-13 win. The Woodlands was the only team to drop out this week.

The only new team in this week's rankings is unbeaten Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.), which has been surging in recent weeks behind big-time junior quarterback Ryan Kasdorf.

There were a few changes in other positions this week due to some teams that had close calls. The highest of those was at No. 13 where Centennial (Corona, Calif.), was voted in front of Skyline (Sammamish, Wash.). Skyline, in fact, dropped from No. 13 down to No. 16 after a 16-13 win over Bothell. That move, however, also occurred because voters were impressed by what Centennial, Lakeland of Florida and Phoebus of Virginia did in their games.

ESPN RISE FAB 50

The ESPN RISE FAB 50 rankings were compiled by a panel of ESPN RISE and ESPN.com high school editors, which includes Mark Tennis, Doug Huff, Chris Lawlor, Jon Mahoney, Sheldon Shealer, Ronnie Flores and Paul Muyskens.

1. Trinity (Euless, Texas)
Record:
9-0
Points: 250, five first-place votes
Previous rank: 1

Northwest (Justin, Texas) was no match for Trinity on Friday night as the Trojans rolled to a 56-19 win, the program's 23rd consecutive victory. Trinity, which hasn't lost since week two of last year at the hands of current FAB 50 No. 22 Permian, rolled up 544 yards of total offense, with QB Denarius McGhee leading the way with 253 yards and three touchdowns through the air. Kansas-bound LB Earnest Norman put the finishing touches on the win with a 51-yard interception return for a score in the fourth quarter. Trinity closes out the regular season at L.D. Bell on Thursday.

2. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
Record:
8-0
Points: 244
Previous rank: 2

The Raiders continued to roll against district competition, blasting McArthur 38-0 on Friday night. The victory was another impressive feat for head coach George Smith, who recorded his 28th district championship and 12th straight title. Aquinas hasn't lost a district game since 1996 and is now riding an 18-game overall winning streak. Senior QB Ryan Becker tossed two touchdown passes and ran for two scores in the blowout. St. Thomas welcomes Western to Brian Piccolo Stadium on Friday.

3. Lowndes (Valdosta, Ga.)
Record:
9-0
Points: 241
Previous rank: 3

With the defense pitching a 21-0 shutout over Coffee, Lowndes secured the Region 1 championship. ESPNU 150 athlete Greg Reid reeled in a 56-yard touchdown reception and rushed 17 yards for a score to lead the offense. Senior RB Gerald Demps, a Florida State commit, tacked on a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to seal it. Lowndes wraps up the regular season Friday against Warner Robins.

4. Gateway (Monroeville, Pa.)
Record:
10-0
Points: 235
Previous rank: 4

The Gators passed their opening test of the WPIAL Class AAAA playoffs with flying colors, blanking Mt. Lebanon 42-0. Senior running back Brian Williams ran for 194 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries, while junior quarterback Rob Kalkstein threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score. Gateway will take on Shaler in the quarterfinals on Friday. Shaler shut out Canon McMillan 16-0 in its first-round game.

5. Poly (Long Beach, Calif.)
Record:
8-0
Points: 228
Previous rank: 5

Compton High comes into this week's game against the Jackrabbits with an unbeaten record, although the Tarbabes haven't been tested yet and are a clear underdog. The Jackrabbits did their part to set up the showdown with a 45-0 romp past Cabrillo. The defense forced six turnovers that turned into five touchdowns. Offensively, Poly was led by senior QB Morgan Fennell, who threw two TD passes to Jordan Johnson and found Kaelin Clay for another.

6. Armwood (Seffner, Fla.)
Record:
9-0
Points: 226
Previous rank: 6

Even without starting QB Mywan Jackson (who was serving a suspension), the Hawks trounced Freedom 31-14. Backup QB Rob Jones filled in, rushing for a touchdown and throwing for a pair of scores. That's all the defense would need against the Patriots. The Hawks clinched the District 11 title with the win. Armwood draws Middleton for homecoming in Friday's game.

7. Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, Va.)
Record:
19-0
Points: 220
Previous rank: 7

Senior receiver Tim Smith had a big week for Oscar Smith. First, the star wideout verbally committed to the University of Virginia, then he torched the Lakeland defense on a 76-yard receiving touchdown to go over the 1,000-yard mark for the season in Oscar Smith's 44-0 victory. Smith's performance highlighted another strong showing by quarterback sensation Philip Sims, who completed 17 of 29 passes for 241 yards and three scores. Oscar Smith faces Woodside in the Eastern Region Division 6 playoffs Friday.

8. Glenville (Cleveland)
Record:
11-0
Points: 216
Previous rank: 8

The Tarblooders, ranked No. 1 in Ohio Division 1, opened the playoffs with a 35-8 victory over Brecksville-Broadview Heights. The win sets up a repeat showdown against FAB 50 No. 17 St. Ignatius in the second round Saturday. Glenville handed the Wildcats their lone loss in the season debut with a 20-17 decision on a last-play field goal. Against Brecksville-Broadview Heights, Glenville rushed for 337 yards. Sophomore Robert Walton Jr. carried 15 times for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Mordecai Cargill rushed 14 times for 99 yards.

9. Lake Travis (Austin, Texas)
Record:
9-0
Points: 210
Previous rank: 9

Friday night's showdown with undefeated Dripping Springs turned into a 42-3 romp for the Cavaliers, but it was a different name leading the way for Lake Travis. With the offense sputtering in the first half (Elite 11 QB Garrett Gilbert passed for just 50 yards), senior defensive back Michael Streuling stepped up, intercepting two passes and blocking a punt to set up all three Cavalier scores as LT took a 21-3 lead into the break. Gilbert got it going in the second half, passing for 164 yards and the result was another easy win, the 23rd straight for Lake Travis and ninth straight for first-year head coach Chad Morris. Marble Falls is up next in the regular-season finale.

10. St. Xavier (Louisville, Ky.)
Record:
8-0
Points: 204
Previous rank: 10

Kentucky's No. 1-ranked team continued its dominance with a 36-13 victory over Louisville Central. The Tigers enjoyed a 36-7 cushion after three quarters. Senior running back Deuce Finch led the Tigers with 185 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries. St. Xavier closes regular-season play Saturday against Covington Catholic.

11. Camden County (Kingsland, Ga.)
Record:
9-0
Points: 199
Previous rank: 11

For the third straight week, the Wildcats cruised to a blowout, this one 63-8 against overmatched Savannah. Senior RB Greg Baker ran for three scores to pace the Wildcats. Head coach Jeff Herron's team is averaging 50 points per contest and has scored 76, 70, and 63 over the last three games. Camden County travels to Hinesville to take on Bradwell Institute in Friday's regular-season finale.

12. South Panola (Batesville, Miss.)
Record:
10-0
Points: 196
Previous rank: 12

Looking at the final score -- a 56-22 win over Starkville -- might make one think the Tigers' defense is springing a leak. When your team jumps on top 35-0 at the half, though, it only makes sense to back off a little. Before the reserves got their time, the Nicholas and Nicklos Show stole the spotlight. Junior RB Nicholas Parker rushed for TDs of 3, 58 and 1-yard and sophomore receiver Nicklos Brassell one-upped that with 35- and 25-yard TD receptions from David Renfroe, a 74-yard kickoff return and a two-point conversion. South Panola wraps up the regular season at Southaven DeSoto Central, looking to add to their nation-leading 85-game winning streak.

13. Centennial (Corona, Calif.)
Record:
8-0
Points: 191
Previous rank: 14

Voters in this week's poll elected to move the Huskies in front of Skyline for the No. 2 spot in the West behind Long Beach Poly. Centennial probably should be closer to the Jackrabbits, anyway, since it's a pretty heated debate in Southern California between the two. In their game last Friday, the Huskies defeated J.W. North of Riverside 42-19, as senior QB Taylor Martinez completed 16 of 23 passes for 279 yards and three TDs. Senior WR Ricky Marvray was again the top target with seven catches for 148 yards and one TD. This week, Centennial could play its toughest league foe with a matchup against city-rival Santiago.

14. Lakeland (Lakeland, Fla.)
Record:
8-0
Points: 180
Previous rank: 15

Lakeland earned a tough 28-15 road win against 3A Ridge. Junior RB Rodney Watson rushed for 155 yards on 15 carries and a late fourth quarter touchdown that preserved the win. Sophomore WR Javares McRoy hauled in two touchdown passes. The Dreadnaught defense held Ridge senior RB Mike James, a Miami commit, to 71 yards on 21 carries. Lakeland will be back on the road Friday in a battle with Osceola for the district championship.

15. Phoebus (Hampton, Va.)
Record:
10-0
Points: 179
Previous rank: 16

The only loss Phoebus has incurred this year took place behind closed doors -- when the team lost a tiebreaker to undefeated Lake Taylor for the top seed in the Eastern Region Division 5 state playoffs. The Phantoms will start from the No. 2 position and will face Churchland on Friday. Phoebus closed out regular season play with a 77-0 rout of Denbigh.

16. Skyline (Sammamish, Wash.)
Record:
9-0
Points: 176
Previous rank: 13

The Spartans escaped with a 16-12 victory over Bothell. The Spartans came into the game averaging more than 40 points a game, but the Cougars gave them all they could handle. The Cougars ate away at the clock on offense and the defense kept steady pressure on Spartan junior QB Jake Heaps all night. However, trailing 12-9 with five minutes to play, Heaps marched Skyline 71 yards down the field and connected with sophomore receiver Kasen Williams for the go-ahead score. Williams finished with nine grabs for 182 yards and two scores. The Spartans get a first-round bye this week and will face the winner of the first round matchup between Bellarmine Prep and Graham-Kapowsin on Nov.8.

17. St. Ignatius (Cleveland)
Record:
10-1
Points: 168
Previous rank: 17

The red-hot Wildcats continued their dominance with a 10th straight victory, and the second in two weeks, over backyard rival Lakewood St. Edward. The Wildcats, which closed the regular season with the annual Holy War rivalry win over St. Edward, repeated the win a week later with a 37-0 playoff rout. Senior quarterback Andrew Holland completed 10 of 19 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns to Connor Ryan. The Wildcats amassed 407 yards of total offense. The Wildcats advance to tackle FAB 50 No. 8 Glenville on Saturday. The Tarblooders handed St. Ignatius its lone loss 20-17 on a last-play field goal in the season opener.

18. Elder (Cincinnati)
Record:
10-1
Points: 162
Previous rank: 19

The Panthers opened the state Division 1 playoffs with a 52-27 romp over Centerville. Elder, which is unbeaten in-state, jumped out to a 14-0 lead on its first two possessions and never looked back; Elder held a 28-7 advantage at intermission. Junior quarterback Mark Miller completed 16 of 26 passes for 339 yards and three touchdowns in the Panthers' ninth straight win. Elder will play Clayton Northmont on Saturday.

19. Maryville (Maryville, Tenn.)
Record:
10-0
Points: 160
Previous rank: 18

Junior quarterback Philip Juhlin rushed for two touchdowns and senior RB Thomas Shuler rushed for another as Maryville defeated Lenoir City 35-6. The win extends the Rebels' winning streak to 70 games. Maryville's first round playoff opponent will be 6-4 Walker Valley, which defeated Cleveland 28-27 in overtime.

20. North Shore (Houston)
Record:
7-0
Points: 156
Previous rank: 20

Alton Demby returned two punts for scores in the first half and the North Shore defense was its usual salty self in a big 48-7 win over Baytown Lee. The Mustangs' defense surrendered just 68 total yards and Baytown Lee had an amazing negative 32 yards rushing on 30 attempts in the game and didn't score until the fourth quarter. The win sets up a huge showdown with undefeated Beaumont West Brook and star running back Christine Michael this week. The Mustangs' 77-game regular-season winning streak will be on the line against this new District 21-5A rival, as the schools clash for the first time in recent memory due to the newly aligned district this year.

21. Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.)
Record:
7-1
Points: 145
Previous rank: 21

What was supposed to be a hard-fought rivalry game turned into a dominant display by Don Bosco, which upended previously undefeated Bergen Catholic 38-7. Senior quarterback Brett Knief passed for two touchdowns and ran for two scores, while senior running back Dillon Romain ran for 140 yards and a touchdown. Adding to the good news, junior running back Tony Jones returned to the field after missing four games with a broken collarbone. Defensively, the Ironmen kept Bergen Catholic off the scoreboard (The Crusaders' only touchdown came off an interception return). Don Bosco junior defensive lineman Bryan Murphy paced the unit with four sacks. The Ironmen will host undefeated St. Joseph Regional on Friday.

22. Permian (Odessa, Texas)
Record:
9-0
Points: 144
Previous rank: 22

Senior RB Sherard Ray churned out another 200-yard game -- hitting exactly 200 on 19 carries with a 40-yard TD run -- as Permian overcame a slow start to rout Amarillo Tascosa 36-8. Ray's touchdown scamper gave the Panthers a 12-8 lead in the second quarter, and Mojo would not look back, as senior QB Trevor Adams added 236 yards and a TD through the air while also catching an eight-yard TD in the third quarter. Permian did commit 14 penalties and would like to clean up and get out to quicker starts before the playoffs roll around. The regular season wraps up this week for Permian at Midland High.

23. Stone Bridge (Ashburn, Va.)
Record:
10-0
Points: 142
Previous rank: 26

It was the Daniel Allen and Michael Prince show as Stone Bridge wrapped up a perfect regular-season showing with a 42-14 victory over W.T. Woodson. Prince and Allen each scored two touchdowns and Stone Bridge built a 21-0 lead in the second quarter. The Bulldogs have turned to the running attack with Wake Forest-bound quarterback Patrick Thompson sidelined by injury.

24. Dorman (Roebuck, S.C.)
Record:
10-0
Points: 139
Previous rank: NR

Senior RB Ash Butler rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries as Dorman defeated Hillcrest 51-7. The win showed that the Cavaliers weren't about to have a letdown following their victory over Byrnes. It also clinched Dorman's first Region II-4A title since 2001. The Cavs open up the first round of the South Carolina playoffs with a home game against Spartanburg -- a team they defeated 47-10 in Week 1.

25. North Penn (Lansdale, Pa.)
Record:
10-0
Points: 125
Previous rank: 26

The Knights closed out an undefeated regular season with an impressive 42-21 victory over Pennridge. Senior Andrew Stoll keyed the defensive attack and added a touchdown reception on offense. Senior RB Ronnie Akins ran for two touchdowns and caught a 55-yard touchdown pass from senior QB Justin Davey, who threw a pair of touchdown passes overall. North Penn will now play Souderton in the first round of the District One Class AAAA playoffs on Friday. The Knights earned a 33-10 road victory over Souderton on Oct. 18.

26. De La Salle (Concord, Calif.)
Record:
7-1
Points: 118
Previous rank: 27

Despite giving up 302 yards through the air to standout junior QB Brett Nottingham, the Spartans made enough big plays to post a 45-35 win over previously unbeaten Monte Vista on their home turf Friday. Junior DB Alex Taylor came up with perhaps the biggest play with a 58-yard interception return for a score. Noah Perio also came up big on a fake field goal as he picked up the ball instead of holding it and ran it in for a five-yard touchdown. Senior QB Blake Wayne also had a solid night with no turnovers and a pair of TD passes to Jackson Bouza. Thursday, De La Salle travels to play San Ramon Valley.

27. Arrowhead (Hartland, Wis.)
Record:
11-0
Points: 115*
Previous rank: 25

The defending state champion WarHawks won two Division 1 playoff games last week -- a dominating in a 49-19 win over Manitowoc on Tuesday before surviving a 30-25 decision at Oshkosh West on Saturday. Arrowhead led 24-12 with 2:30 left to play before West rallied for two scores and a 25-24 lead with 1:31 on the clock. Arrowhead junior quarterback Tom Parish then connected with junior tight end Collin Schreck with a game-winning 34-yard TD pass with 13 seconds remaining. The Warhawks advance to play Hartford on Saturday.

28. Good Counsel (Olney, Md.)
Record:
9-0
Points: 115*
Previous rank: 30

The Falcons moved within one game of completing their second undefeated regular season under coach Bob Milloy with Saturday's 45-0 thrashing of league rival Gonzaga (D.C.). National recruit Jelani Jenkins got Good Counsel started with a pair of first-quarter touchdown runs, and the Falcons rolled to a 31-0 halftime lead. Here's an interesting note: Good Counsel will enter the league playoffs as the favorite, although DeMatha has won the past six titles. The only school to snag a Washington Catholic Athletic League title this decade other than DeMatha was Gonzaga in 2002.

29. Plant (Tampa, Fla.)
Record:
7-1
Points: 113
Previous rank: 29

The Panthers' defense stepped up and forced three takeaways in their dominant 27-13 win over Chamberlain, which was 8-0 coming into the contest. Plant held dynamic QB Dontae Aycock to negative 2 yards rushing and only 123 yards of total offense. Sophomore QB Phillip Ely threw a touchdown pass to senior TE Orson Charles. Charles also added an 8-yard touchdown run. Plant looks to win the conference on the road at Jefferson.

30. Prattville (Prattville, Ala.)
Record:
8-1
Points: 111
Previous rank: 28

This was supposed to be the week Prattville got its first test since a season-opening loss to St. Xavier (Ohio). The Lions crushed previously unbeaten Central 47-0 -- showing there's quite a difference between the 5A and 4A divisions. Prattville held Central to 154 yards in total offense while posting its sixth shutout this season. Once the Lions got rolling behind junior QB Sam Gibson (156 yards and two TDs passing and another 86 yards rushing), they scored on five straight possessions to close out a 32-0 halftime spree, including a monster 52-yard field goal by Brian Egan. Now Prattville opens the playoffs against Smiths Station. Prattville is looking for its eighth straight playoff-opening home victory.

31. Abilene (Abilene, Texas)
Record:
9-0
Points: 104
Previous rank: 32

The Eagles' offense continued to soar, as Abilene topped Richland 48-28 in a showdown for first place in District 3-5A. Herschel Sims led the offensive onslaught, rushing for 140 yards and two scores while also catching five passes for 139 yards, which included a school-record 98-yard TD reception. Sims is also believed to be the first player in Abilene school history to both rush and receive for more than 100 yards in a game, but he wasn't the Eagles' lone standout on that side of the ball. Zach Bass rumbled for 178 yards and a TD on the ground and Stephen Warren passed for 217 yards and two more scores. Abilene is at North Crowley on Friday before playoff action begins.

32. Byrnes (Duncan, S.C.)
Record:
9-1
Points: 95
Previous rank: 33

Junior receiver Nick Jones had nine catches for 146 yards and two touchdowns while junior running back Marcus Lattimore ran for 148 yards and three touchdowns as Byrnes routed Mauldin 70-27. The Rebels, still smarting from their loss to Dorman that knocked them out of the mythical national title hunt, begin the playoffs with a home game against Boiling Springs.

33. John T. Curtis (River Ridge, La.)
Record:
8-1
Points: 91
Previous rank: 31

Although the Patriots clinched at least a share of the District 10, 2A title, it didn't come easy. It never does against St. James, which put up a spirited battle before falling 17-14. Sometimes it's the things that are taken for granted that are the difference. Take punting. It was Stone Speer's booming 62-yard punt, downed at the St. James 1-inch line, that led to a safety and then a short field goal on the ensuing free kick that proved pivotal. Marchez Patterson scored on a 6-yard run but was held to just 54 yards rushing as the Patriots piled up yardage by committee, with Kenny Cain adding 63 and Evan Ingram 69. John T. Curtis battles the 7-1 Newman Greenies to close out the regular season. Newman's only loss was by 21 to St. James. It's also the alma mater of both Peyton and Eli Manning.

34. Maine South (Park Ridge, Ill.)
Record:
10-0
Points: 82
Previous rank: 34

Senior quarterback Charlie Goro completed 18 of 25 passes for 377 yards and six touchdowns as the Hawks opened the state Class 8A playoffs with a 63-29 win over Stevenson after trailing at the end of the first quarter. Junior RB Matt Perez rushed 12 times for 89 yards and accounted for four scores including a punt return and pass reception. The No. 1 Illinois team will tackle Loyola in the second round Friday.

35. Allen (Allen, Texas)
Record:
8-1
Points: 80
Previous rank: 36

Junior quarterback Matt Brown ran for three scores and threw for a fourth as Allen overcame a sluggish start to top winless Plano East 30-14. The Eagles will host 8-1 Wylie on Friday with the District 8-5A title on the line. Allen routed Wylie 41-21 a year ago.

36. Madison County (Madison, Fla.)
Record:
7-0
Points: 74
Previous rank: 39

It was a statement game for the Cowboys, who downed Godby 50-33 in a nationally televised game on ESPNU at Boot Hill Stadium. Godby jumped out to a 13-0 lead, but the Cowboys forced a couple of turnovers and the rout was on. ESPNU 150 DT Jacobbi McDaniel registered four tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble. Senior RB Corey Akins rushed for 114 yards and a score and Chris Thompson chipped in with 96 yards on 10 carries. Madison County clashes with Dixie County in Friday's game at the Boot.

37. Oceanside (Oceanside, Calif.)
Record:
8-0
Points: 72
Previous rank: 37

It continues to be tough to get a read on just how good the Pirates are. Their latest romp was 62-6 over Orange Glen in a game they led 48-0 at halftime. Colorado-bound QB Jordan Wynn completed 9 of 10 passes for 170 yards and three TDs in limited action. In the second half, the only plays called were runs between the tackles. The San Diego area's No. 1 team should have a tougher test this week against 7-1 Valley Center.

38. St. Bonaventure (Ventura, Calif.)
Record:
7-1
Points: 71
Previous rank: 38

Devon Blackledge and Isaiah Burton scored on a kickoff return and punt return, respectively, as the Seraphs motored past Santa Barbara 51-21. Blackledge also rushed for 117 yards on 11 carries and scored two other times. St. Bonaventure, which has lost only to FAB 50 No. 5 Long Beach Poly, still looks like the frontrunner to play in the CIF Division III state bowl game but also still has an outside shot at the CIF Open Division bowl game. Up next for the Seraphs is a home game against Dos Pueblos.

39. South Pointe (Rock Hill, S.C.)
Record:
10-0
Points: 62
Previous rank: 41

Senior quarterback Stephon Gilmore threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another as South Pointe defeated Spring Valley of Columbia 59-0. This was South Pointe's fifth shutout of the season; South Pointe has only allowed 40 points on the season. The Stallions play Rock Hill on Thursday for the region title.

40. Cretin-Derham Hall (St. Paul, Minn.)
Record:
11-0
Points: 56
Previous rank: 40

The Raiders left no doubt this time. Cretin's toughest regular-season threat was Woodbury, which they beat in a 22-16 decision. But in the Class 5A section title game, the Raiders dominated Woodbury 33-14 to win and advance to the state tournament on Friday against Lakeville South. Cretin has qualified for every state event but one since 1990. Marcus Binns carried 34 times for 167 yards and three touchdowns.

41. Centennial (Peoria, Ariz.)
Record:
9-0
Points: 52
Previous rank: 42

There was no letdown after the emotional 14-0 win over Westview last week. The Coyotes are having fun with their defense as well as their offense, collecting their third straight shutout in a 55-0 win over Sunrise Mountain. Centennial will try to make it four zeros in a row while at least maintaining its 42.5-scoring average as it finishes off the regular season Friday at home against Ironwood. Then the Coyotes, who average better than 350 yards of offense, can look ahead to the 5A Division II playoffs.

42. Union (Tulsa, Okla.)
Record:
8-1
Points: 42
Previous rank: 43

The Redskins were able to rest their starters for most of the game in their 55-6 win over Oklahoma City Grant. With the starters on the bench, sophomore Kale Pearson saw extended time at quarterback and impressed in rushing for two touchdowns and passing for another score. Union finishes the regular season with a home tilt against Enid on Friday.

43. Northside (Warner Robins, Ga.)
Record:
8-1
Points: 35
Previous rank: 44

The Eagles ground out a 14-0 win over cross-town rival Warner Robins in Friday's game. The night belonged to senior RB Xavier Bacon, who accounted for 242 total yards with 159 yards rushing. Northside ends the season on the road against Colquitt County.

44. Rockhurst (Kansas City, Mo.)
Record:
9-1
Points: 30
Previous rank: 45

A week after returning a kickoff for a score, junior Sal Belfonte started off the scoring against Joplin with a 64-yard punt return for a score and the Hawklets cruised to a 68-7 win in their regular-season finale. Belfonte added a touchdown run, while seniors Chris Castellucio and Billy Linscott also had two scores apiece. Rockhurst, the defending Class 6 state champ, will play Blue Springs (9-1) in the sectional finals on Friday. Blue Springs handed Rockhurst its only loss this season when it edged the Hawklets 28-21 in overtime.

45. Independence (Charlotte, N.C.)
Record:
9-0
Points: 28
Previous rank: 47

Junior quarterback Anthony Carrothers accumulated 334 total yards and five touchdowns as Independence defeated East Mecklenburg 35-14. Carrothers rushed for 128 yards and four touchdowns and threw for 206 and another score in the win. Independence will play undefeated Butler on Friday for the Southwestern 4A championship.

46. Center Grove (Greenwood, Ind.)
Record:
10-1
Points: 25
Previous rank: 46

The No. 1-ranked Indiana team played like it last weekend in the second round of the state Class 5A playoffs. The Trojans dominated Bloomington South 56-14. The Trojans advance to play Bloomington North on Friday in the section final. Senior receiver Luke Swift rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns versus South. The Trojans led 42-0 at halftime.

47. Naperville North (Naperville, Ill.)
Record:
10-0
Points: 17
Previous rank: 49

The defending state Class 8A champion Huskies passed their first state playoff test with a 42-16 decision over Simeon. North rolled out to a 42-0 cushion at halftime as Nick Mlady and Jack Roberts combined for four touchdowns. North advances to play Marist in the second round.

48. Jenks (Jenks, Okla.)
Record:
8-1
Points: 14
Previous rank: 48

The Trojans clinched the district title with a convincing 34-6 victory over Muskogee. Senior wide receiver Tramaine Thompson ran for 66 yards and two touchdowns, caught five passes for 113 yards and a score and added 48 yards on returns. Sophomore quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen completed 10 of 16 passes for 239 yards and a touchdown. Jenks closes out the regular season at home against Sand Springs on Friday.

49. Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.)
Record:
8-0
Points: 11*

Watch out for this team in the coming weeks. If the Knights keep winning, they will likely enter the CIF Southern Section Pac-Five Division playoffs as the No. 2 seed behind Long Beach Poly. Notre Dame's latest win was by 37-17 over Crespi, which was in the FAB 50 earlier this season. Junior QB deluxe Ryan Kasdorf completed 22 of 28 passes for 325 yards and four TDs. He also went past 2,400 yards for the season. Senior WR James Flynn shined as well with seven catches for 118 yards and three of Kasdorf's TDs. The schedule is tough this week for the Knights as they travel to play Loyola of Los Angeles, a team that came close to beating De La Salle earlier this year and a squad coming in after a 17-6 win over Bishop Amat.
