Each weekday, ESPN RISE brings you five vital stats from athletes across the country.
Beaver Falls (Pa.) senior Todd Thomas is rated the nation's No. 27 football athlete by ESPN Scouts Inc. A 6-foot-3, 190-pound wide receiver/running back/outside linebacker, Thomas has committed to play for Pitt. Thomas is also a basketball star for Beaver Falls, though he won't play the sport in college. Here are the top five reasons he likes playing both sports in high school.
1. My friends
"They support me everywhere I go."
2. The atmosphere
"On Friday nights in basketball and football, it's crazy."
"If I'm playing somebody good, the level of competition goes up."
"Going out as an athlete from Beaver Falls, they congratulate me after the game."
5. My mom
"It makes her proud."
