The final regular-season votes have been logged and seven undefeated teams
top this week's MDVarsity.com High School Football State Poll.
Six of the seven teams start their playoff journeys this week. At least two
of the six playoff teams will have to lose as their paths will cross in the
Class 4A postseason.
This week's opening round of playoffs features a pair of Top 25 clashes with
No. 13 Suitland visiting No. 12 Flowers and No. 24 Gwynn Park at No. 2 River
Hill. Suitland and Flowers played three weeks ago with Flowers winning in
overtime. This is the first-ever meeting between Gwynn Park and River Hill.
Gilman and North County, which both suffered losses last week, dropped from
the Top 25 and were replaced by Douglass-PG and Huntingtown. Douglass, a
preseason Top 25 team, earned its way back into the rankings with a 26-12
victory over Gwynn Park. Huntingtown is the SMAC's lone representative in
this year's final regular-season poll.

The Maryland High School Football State Poll, in its 19th year, is based on
a statewide voting by sports reporters. Schools are ranked by points
received. The number in parenthesis reflects first-place votes.

Wise (7-3, 12), Queen Anne's (10-0, 8), Joppatowne (7-3*, 7), Smithsburg
(10-0, 5), Friendly (8-2, 4), Tuscarora (8-2, 4), Urbana (7-3, 4), Damascus
(7-3, 3), Havre de Grace (10-0, 3), Gilman (6-4, 3), Boonsboro (9-1, 2),
North County (8-2, 2), Perry Hall (8-2, 1).
