MDVarsity.com Football Media State Poll

Updated: October 21, 2009, 11:10 AM ET

The MIAA's loss appears to be Montgomery County's gain in this week's state poll.

Other than McDonogh, the MIAA A Conference teams have taken turns beating each other, leaving no clear No. 2 team right now and slew of MIAA teams in the ranks of the honorable mentions. Included in that group is Loyola, which falls out of the state Top 25 for the first time since 2003 -- ending a string of 76 straight weeks in the rankings.

The newcomers to this week's Top 25 are hardly new to state rankings. Churchill, Damascus and Seneca Valley -- all from Montgomery County -- have spent a combined 415 weeks in the rankings over the past 20 years.

Churchill checks in at No. 19, its highest ranking since a No. 17 appearance in 2007. Seneca Valley is in at No. 22 as it lines up for a meeting with Quince Orchard this week, and Damascus is in at No. 23 after knocking off Sherwood last week.

Churchill is undefeated which includes a win over Seneca Valley. Seneca Valley and Damascus both have two losses, but those losses came at the hands of teams ranked higher in the state poll.
