PRIME-TIME PLAYERS

DANNY PAWOLA
With the graduation of Chris Derrick, Pawola takes over the reins as the star of Neuqua Valley's defending state champion team. He finished eighth overall at the state meet last year.

STEVE SULKIN
Sulkin finished fifth at the state meet last year with a time of 14:26 (he's the fastest returner this season), and he followed that up with a strong showing at the Nike Team Nationals, finishing fourth.

KRISTIN AUBERT
Aubert's sophomore season ended with an eighth-place finish at the state meet, and with her constantly-improving times, she's poised for a title run this time around.

KELLY WHITLEY
Whitley showed leadership beyond her years in 2007, guiding her band of Geneva freshmen to the state championship. She finished second overall, clocking in at 16:56.

COACH'S TAKE

AN AREA COACH ON STEVE SULKIN:
"Very talented, and it seems like he keeps getting stronger every year. He likes to hold on to the pack and use his kick at the end, and he's fast enough to do it. York has a storied history, and he'll go down as one of the all-time greats there."
